Asus ASS through Rashi mate./.. not recommended I guess?

Also, who deals MSI's RMA, and what is its period?

and GTS 450 vs 5770?
Asus offers 3 yrs labor+parts. MSI i am not sure. In newegg its 2 yrs parts+ 3 yrs labor. So after this Sapphire debacle i am not really sure. Better confirm it with the dealer u get it from.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

This is an exceptionally helpful thread.
Here's my query for a budget card.

1. What is your budget? 5-7 k

2. Current rig Specs
CPU : Intel core 2 duo ( 2.80ghz )
Motherboard : Intel g33/g31 express chipset family
RAM : 3gb ddr2 ram ( 677 mgz corsair )
Monitor : Don't know, but it's HCL branded ( 1366 * 768 resolution @ 60hz )

3. Which PSU/SMPS will you be using? I'm not sure but i'll need one since my psu is only 150 watts...please suggest one that is on the cheaper side but will suffice with the gfx card you suggest.

4. Primary use? Gaming and movies. In particular, i want to be able to play games like assassins creed 2, mass effect 2 and dragon age origins without a hitch, i don't even need super high end graphics or anything, the games should just look nice-good.

5. What resolution do you game on? 1366*768

6. Interested in Crossfire/SLI? No

7. Open to both Nvidia/ATI? Both .

its a very good VFM card..

for the PSU get a FSP SAGA II 350..

HD 5670~4.9k

FSP 350~1.6k..

^Are you planning for a monitor upgrade in the near future?

Even a HD 5670 ~ 4.9k would do the job if you are planning to stick with your 1280x1024 resolution.

Also, PSU brand?

thanks Darkangel for the heads up

i just wanted to clarify

1)is my VX450 & APC 650VA enough to power the GTX460?

2)if i go for HD5770(maybe sapphire or powercolor) will heat produced be a problem compared to GTX460?

3)is taking HD5770 a gamble (grey screens) ?

sorry if my questions seem a lil bit outlandish

i am out of touch with the recent developments in the past 4 months

MSI R5770 HAWK review

GeForce GTX 460 review (roundup)

A 650VA would deliver ~390w and yeah considering you have a CPU with 95w TDP and @stock your PSU+UPS can handle the GTX460.

Sapphire seems to have 2 years parts& labor and 1 year labor only warranty :( So in effect just 2 yrs warranty as parts are damn costly.

Power Color too has only 2 years warranty.

Clear the warranty condition for MSI too from dealer as to whether it has 3 years part & labor warranty.

Reg. grey screens wait for HD5770 owners to comment on it.

The HD5770 is a safe bet. If you are so worried about overheating, i suggest you get the Msi HD5770 hawk or VaporX of the same. heating factor depends on your CPU cabinet as well. So make sure you cabinet has proper cooling facilities to handle such babies. And as of performance, just a few fps difference compared to the gtx460. Souldn't be a problem if you are not a icandy addict. :p
BTW i'm on the MSi Hd5770 hawk myself. Haven't had any grey sceen issues yet.

thanks Jojo

i have a CM Elite 310(normal sidepanel with default exhaust fan)

will add 2xCM 120mm fans for front and side intake

well i guess HD5770 is enough for 1600x900 res. and the price is better too

i was worried about its "problems"

does anyone know which brand provides the best warranty i.e. 3 year warranty?

is there any website listing the prices of various models of HD5770 in India? (techshop sucks, too overpriced)

MSI HAWK version HD 5770, go for it you must :). No overheating or other problems as such used it for a year now.
