Graphic Cards Graphic card buying advice

Here i go again with my super indecisiveness for the graphics card im gonna buy.. as i cudnot find a XFX GTS 250 in delhi, so i did a hell lotta R&D on MSI and found it much cooler.. well i donot have aditya infotech back at home so i may end up in a pickle there.. ermm .. nonetheless.. i looked up two cards from MSI .. GTS N250 Twin Frozr & GTS N450 Cyclone... as u may know the GTS 450 is a newer card, supports DX 11 and also has a higher memory/core clock speed and "GDDR5".. but what confuses me here is the memory bandwidth.. N250 has 256 bit but N450 has 128 bit memory interface.. i read somewhere that the bandwidth matters more than the clock speed.. i stand corrected..

Nonetheless im finally going off tommorow to buy either of them ( ill take last advice from gurmeet bro himself ;) ) and end up buying any 1 of them nevertheless..

but ill give a quick glance into this thread before i leave :D

thanks for all the help :p

which one of the following companies is a good brand for buying gpu--
zotac,point of view,msi,xfx,sapphire,asus,etc

i was thinking of buying between these two cards -
zotac or point of view
as these are not too costly...
mainly i am giving preference to point of view as it will cost me around 12k for 1 gb...
so should i buy this .or think of other card...
budget is main constraint for me.....
my monitor is 19 inches

both pov and zotac have the same servicing partner that is ADITYA INFOTECH.

Regarding my earlier query, how easy it is to carry a graphics card past the Bangalore Airport Customs? I am not bringing any other electronic item (except a laptop which I carried from India to US and bringing back and I have my company letter certifying that).

i dont want to be harsh or anything, but a avisory thread on graphics cards like this will not help.
a graphics card always needs to be bought according to your current system configuration.
if not done as above, theres a 90% chance that some of your component will bottleneck the hardware.

going by budget is not an option always.
say you have Rs.30,000

you can buy an ATI 5970.
but you have an athlon 2 X2 3.0ghz
2Gb RAM
and a 1024*786 resolution monitor.
your CPU will be a bottle neck and so will be the ram.
and for the resolution you will be playing in, you dont need a 5970.

but good effort though..

Mate - If you did look at the first post in the thread - It says

PLEASE USE THIS TEMPLATE FOR ASKING YOUR QUERY

What is your budget?

Current rig Specs

CPU

Motherboard

RAM

Monitor

Which PSU/SMPS will you be using?

Primary use? (Casual gaming, Hardcore gaming, Just for display, Movies/HTPC)

What resolution do you game on?

Interested in Crossfire/SLI?

Open to both Nvidia/ATI?

--That would be enough for a person to decide/recommend on a GPU - and whether it will b/neck or not - But the above said Is true too - to play in 800*600 I dont need a 5970 ... except for the showoff bit ..

[OT] BTW - That WD Green Review was spot on ! -No cons :S - Drivers / Reliability ? [/OT]

Hope that wasn't rude ...

:cool2:

If you go through the thread once..
you will notice that all the suggestions are made keeping the specs in mind..
the members have been told to use the template and that clears everything..
the template is good enough to recommend a card to someone..

if you have seen an instance where a wrong advice has been given of the magnitude that you mentioned..
please post that...

9600 gt will be hard to find now..

why dont you go with the HD 4670?

At 1280x1024 its as good as the 9600gt..

its a good card for its price..only 5% slower than a 9600gt and that too when you game on high resolution...

its slightly more than 3.5k though..

if you are getting a 9600gt @ 3.5k..thats an amazing deal..you can go with palit also..

if not..HD 4670 ..

I have learned a lesson already.

Anyone know the current price of Zotac 9600GT or any other good 9600GT ?

I have searched for GT240 but they are overpriced.

And brother don't want any ATI since they got driver problem.....:(
