Re: HDTV buying advice thread

Hi guys...

Want to buy Full HD 32" HDTV for movies watching.. Have plan to connect USB Hdd and watch HD ripped movies (mkv)

1. Budget = 35 to 37 k

2. Viewing distance = 4 ft +

3. Sources/inputs such as HD DTH/consoles/stand-alone media players etc = Normal Tata Sky DTH

4. Preference for plasma TV/LCD TV/LED-LCD TV = Any.. I don't think will Plasma come under the budget..

5. Preference for brands = Samsung/Sony/LG (but not restricted to)

6. Willing to purchase it from the grey market? = NO

7. Ambient lighting conditions of the room = Normal

8. Any other feature you are looking for such as 3D support on the HDTV, DLNA capabilities etc = Nothing

Is it possible to connect headphones to TV ? or I have to purchase DVD player for it ?

Re: HDTV buying advice thread

Get a samsung 32D550 or 32D580 difference is in the sound or if you want to save power and wan't a tv with slimmer profile get a 32D5000.
In the Sony only the low end models support MKV and NTFS formatted HDD.

Re: HDTV buying advice thread

adder bhai,
Does Sony 32Cx520 supports NTFS formatted HDD, I've been told tv supports upto 1Tb. One more thing how would you rate 32Cx520 vis a vis 32Ex720 in terms of 2D picture quality and features as I guess they have diff panels.

No the CX520 and EX520/720 and HX series doesn't support NTFS. The EX720 is obviously a better tv interms of 2d quality, both have a SPVA panel but the one in EX720 has a higher speced version of the SPVA panel with a higher refresh rate.

Re: HDTV buying advice thread

Guys, just saw this model in croma,

24" F.HD VU LED-24K16 - :: VU Technologies ::

13999 - 1yr warranty +1200 (+2year ext. croma warranty)

Was eyeing a 24" monitor (G2420 BenQ) ; now the VU one looks tempting.

Can anybody comment on the build and image quality of VU leds ? Are they reliable.

And also about their A.S.S.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

^ BTW demo`ed it there. Pic quality was superb. Sound was very good and clear even at 70-80% volume.

The VU site says usb support only for jpeg and mp3 (not much an issue for me)

Will go today with a pendrive and ext. HDD (NTFS) for another demo.

Re: HDTV buying advice thread

Hey Guys, I had a doubt about the text quality on a HD TV. When you connect your PC to an HD TV through HDMI, how good is the text quality on it?

Many tvs have a PC/graphics mode or text mode which makes the text as sharp and legible as possible.

Re: HDTV buying advice thread

^^And how good are they compared to the LCD monitors? Also, will a LCD TV be appropriate for photo editing?

Re: HDTV buying advice thread

^^ Samsung LN40D550 fits your budget perfectly. Here's a review of the 46' version Samsung-LN46D550. But be warned, as posted on the first page Samsung has a panel lottery system. Other option would be the Sony Bravia KDL-40CX520 through grey market for about 42k. You get a assured SPVA panel in this. Using one since a month or so. Completely satisfied :). Here's a review - Sony 46cx520.
