Help me buy a fridge

I didn't get one and usually do not get extended warranties. It's the casino model. You bet against the house. That the machine will fail within the extended period.

Do you feel lucky? I don't because the house always wins. The machine will not fail generally speaking within their extended warranty period.

Now, an extended warranty that kicks in five years after you bought it would be interesting. Nobody offers one. Wonder why

I bought it from amazon, it's the same seller. Should be ok getting from the seller directly.

Give the battery and the contacts a clean with IPA. If you have a multimeter check the battery voltage. Otherwise, replace the battery. You are going to use that TDS meter in the future right?


Two days later here is the temperature variation with the sensor on the top shelf. A low of two and a high of seven. The fridge temperature is set to 3°C. You'd think there would be less variation on the top shelf. Yeah, just two degrees less compared with on the vegetable box at the bottom.

You know what to do to reduce that differential further? use a chiller box and put your medicines in it.


If you need to travel with the medicines then add an ice pack in the box

I prefer the flat type ice packs. This is where how low the freezer gets makes a difference. Since mine gets close to -20 one of those packs will last twelve hours easily. With a freezer that goes only a little below freezing your use time will be less. Pro-tip. These packs must be stored vertically along their longest axis otherwise they bloat up more if left lying flat in the freezer.

When you get the logger. Compare the differential in the fridge vs. the ice box

Yes, that chiller box is what I need. Thanks for the link. Ice gel packs I already have from previous medicines.
Ordered the device, from seller directly. 2124/-. Shown price was without gst.

Ps: oh great. I have laid them flat of course. I'll change their position. Lol

@blr_p how often should i defrost? Installation guy said every 3 days. This is the build up so far, in 6 days since installation. This is probably outside your area of knowledge being a DD FF user still worth asking

@blr_p So this is the result after 24 hours. Placed the external probe in the deep fridge (external outside). Recordings are taken at 1 hour interval.
Don't mind the first reading Lol.
What do you think ?

Humidity in the freezer (41% - 60% )avg of 51%. Surprised by how high the humidity is in the freezer. More humidity, the more frequent the defrosting.

This is what you get with a single door fridge.

The temperature in the freezer ( -6 to -13 °C), that's pretty decent

A one hour logging interval seems quite long. You can reduce that to ten minutes if you want. The graphs will be smoother that way.

But this way you get an idea of when the inverter comes on and goes off.

4:57 to 6:57 it ran, then shut off for an hour

The funny thing is the humidity rises during the night and is low during the day when the door would be opened more often. Why is that?

Are you certain that the humidity is measured from the external probe when used? I thought the humidity sensor is incorporated only in the internal device. I'll have to check though.
 
Well then the humidity readings are irrelevant as I had suspected. That is outside humidity.

The external probe is to be used with liquids. I don't know why you put it in the freezer as you did. Yeah, it works like that but you lose the humidity data which isn't relevant for liquids.
To gauge fridge humidity I will have to place the device inside. Hmm I am not sure I would like that.
Why not? it can handle it. That is what it is for

No communication with the outside world. All data is saved to internal memory

I thought the external probe is more accurate and sensitive to measure temps. And then the fact that there's always a difference of about 0.5 degrees between the readings of external and internal. Right now my room temp is shown to be 30 by the external, I switch to internal and it goes to 30.4. They are placed right next to each other! The internal is always higher.
 
That is a 1% difference which is in the margin of error. They are the same for all intents and purposes.
Latest attached. So the humidity is 80% on avg. Temp -8.6C. I shall now change the knob level to 4 and observe.
I am not sure about the humidity. Some articles say it's normal to be high inside freezer, some say opposite.

So now the humidity in the freezer is now higher than in the room? the range is 62 - 90%

Wonder how much it is in the fridge. Must be similar. As far as produce storage goes that is not a bad thing as pretty much everything likes high humidity.

Temperature seems to fluctuate between -7 and -9 which looks right

Notice how the humidity increases in step with the temperature decreasing. Just a 2 degree rise in temperature raises humidity by 30% and vice versa.

What setting is this on?

We have been using a Alwyn fridge for past 40 years or so. Bloody thing still works. Single door, I don't know how many litre. The only problem with it is its current consumption, which is around 100W per hour. So looking for something power efficient. We have never been able to fill this thing even half, so don't need high storage. Milk, eggs, fruits and raw veggies are the only things we keep in it, never any cooked foods as we never have any leftovers and always fresh food is made few hours before meals.

Are the double door models better in terms of keeping things fresh, I mean do they have better air circulation? Or should I simply get one of them single door 192 litre Samsing models?

Pls advise.
family size, space, toughened glass shelves, frost free, ice dispenser, inverter technology... these are basic required to buy a fridge..
