Its not only about the power cut.. When its for an hour or two because of the maintenance its acceptable.. I stay in Chennai and power cut happens at least once in a day. when you call EB they will not respond properly.. Last couple of weeks back my over head cable(which connects to main box in my house) got cut because of a lorry guy.. I spoke to EB guys and they said that the complete wiring has to be changed as one of the three phase wire got cut at the neck of the pipe and will not be patched. I called the local electricians and changed the complete cabling for the main box. It took almost 7 hrs for the local electricians to replace because of the poor wiring inside the house..There were couple of bends and they could nt pull the wire easily.. Once we got that wired I called the EB guys to connect that to the main supply.. They connected only after taking the bribe of 500 to connect the 4 cables to the main supply..took only 5mins.. Poor thing is that the Local electricians worked for 7 hrs and they charged me only Rs.700/-..
^^ Which area of Chennai do you live in? Most of the electricity cabling inside the city is underground. Its only the suburbs and recently added areas that have overhead cabling. I think the city hasnt had scheduled power cuts this year, except maybe for a ~week during peak summer.
Chennai city doesnt have any power cuts *touchwood*
There is a 7-8 hr daytime maintanence cut once in every 4months or so. Apart from that, there is no scheduled cuts.
Even if there is any failure(very rare), the EB guys are very responsive and it gets fixed in 15-30 mins max ( even at late night)
I work in Baroda, no power cuts really, maybe 1hr cumulative in 2 months. My hometown in Kerala has 30 mins of power cut every day for a season each year.
Power supply was restored just now, after 4.5 hours (no electricity from 8:30PM - 1AM). There were 4 hours of power cut during the day already. Thats a total of 8.5 hours of power cut in the past 24 hours. Nice going Bangalore!!
