Cmon...u've got to be kidding me..:P U mean to say u only sleep for 4 hours on a daily basis?:S And what about the other things in ur day to day life? :P

I spend a lot of time. Dont know exactly how much but would be 10 hrs a day during the holidays and at other times, all the time I am at home.

Abt the fitness part, I make sure to do some back strengthening exercises. I go to the gym everyday so that way I may be fat, but I am reasonably fit.

since you sit in front of the comp for such long periods of time, make sure you do some back strengthening exercises. Meet a physio or a doctor. These exercises dont need any equipment. Just lie on your stomach and raise only your legs first. then put your legs down and then raise your body only from the chest up. DO NOT USE YOUR HANDS TO PUSH YOURSELF UP !!

If you use yoiur hands, you are just stretching your back (which is also good, and gives you nice relief but it is not an exercise as such).

Apart from this, try to go swimming at least in summer abt thrice a week. This will take care of your neck and back.

Also, everytime you are in front of your computer, make a conscious decision to rotate your neck every 2 hours or so. Some basic neck stretching exercises. Just do what comes normally when your neck feels stiff, but do it with the purpose of stretching the muscles in your neck.

You are pretty thin, so you dont need to exercise to lose weight, but keep yourself fit. Go for at least a half an hour walk in the mornings or in the evening.

Or if you are like me who is pretty lazy, then just try to walk as much as possible. Need to go buy bread or milk from a store, offer your mom to do it yourself and instead of taking that Unicorn, use your legs. Basic stuff....

If you have a bit of time to spend everyday (and the money), join a decent gym nearby. But make sure you dont compromise on the trainers. A bad trainer can screw you up for life. I am not joking. There was an incident a few months back where a lady joined a gym and an inept trainer made her do exercises which screwed her back and finally because of some sort of pressure on her nerves, she was actually paralyzed below the waist. She had the pain and the trainer kept telling her it was because she was unfit.

If you are planning to join a gym, we can give tips on that later. But first, start basic exercises. Walking as much as possible, take the stairs instead of the lift, park your bike a bit far away from your destination, etc...

but one thing you HAVE to do are the back strengthening exercises and some stretching exercises for your neck. This is because these are just abt the most impoirtant parts of your body and you are clearly concerned abt them.

for me its like ...when i dont have anything to do..its's around 15-16 hours..

when i am busy wid collg/classes/studies its..only 4-6 hrs max...

Urr, well, when I have absolutely nothing to do, I spend around 15 hrs infront of the puter, otherwise, when I have a busy day, then it's more like 3-4 ... Depends ... Actually, more like 10hrs on an average ...

As for the exercise bit, I play football every alternate day, weigh 50kilos, eat green vegetables, drink a fair bit of beer, watch a fairly decent amount of porn.

So yeah, I'm covered.

same as me !!:Perr actually ..add meat along with the vegetables ..and instead of beer ..add 2 glasses of ice tea everyday ! even i play football whenever i get time ..and watch ..some *cough cough*...when bored..:ohyeah:

:rofl: looks like every 17 yr ..has da same story...

Wow..thts the kind of response i was waiting for all this while..repped you..:ohyeah: And yeah, u are right...i am very very lazy..:P Pretty much like tht guy in the new AOL mail ad who doesnt want to get up from his chair in front of his computer, no matter what..

Problem is, my working hours are irregular and sometimes, i have to stay at my workplace overnight...:( Thts why, cant really join gym as i'll miss it everyday..

I was thinking, maybe cycling wud be good..:ashamed: And yeah, i have to keep hands off my bike for sometime..i seriously find it cumbersome to walk these days.. Moreover, dad's car is with me for the last few days..thts another reason to stop me from getting any exercise..

Though i cannot take my bike or car to my workplace(at Andheri) as i stay very far away from there (New Bombay)...so i have to travel by train everyday..but evn in the train, i'm usually sitting...so basically, apart from shattering the keyboard, i literally get no exercise..

I'll do those back exercise tht u mentioned...btw, will cycling help? Thts something i can do whenever i comeback home..:P

Thanks a lot, neways..:)

well about back problems.. when i was in 12 and studying for board exams i got chronic back problems cause of studying continously and doing so in diffrent but comfortable postures and that lead to the back problem... but i can sit on computer many hours without feeling anything in my back... it mostly depends on chair for me ... get something in which you can lie back easy. and one more thing i do usually is put my feet up on some thing besides the computer table or sometimes i put my feet on the computer table :P it also seems to help me a lot in terms of not feeling my back.

and yeah exercise is the best thing one can do to prevent it. may be get a gym ball and just do some stuff on that

Cycling is good....but it wont strengthen your back or neck or anything.

Your overall fitness will improve and your stamina will increase. You'll get tired out less easily. and more importantly, exercising makes you feel good. They release Endorphins in your brain which give you the same feeling as eating a chocolate.

And exercise at the end of the day relieves a LOT of stress. However tiured you are, just exercise. Push yourself and at the end of the workout, you will feel so much better and less exhausted. Physically, you'll be dead, but that is ok. You'll also get a good night's sleep because physically you are tired. Your mental stress is reduced.

Exercising at the beginning of the day and you jump start your day. nothing like it.

 then why dont we just eat chocolates to feel invigorated? I wudnt mind it..

On a serious note, I totally agree with you..this has really inspired me to make a new beginning..:ohyeah: I'll make sure tht i take out atleast 30 minutes for some exercise..:ohyeah:

6-9, I'm afraid. Although I wish I could spend more.

So as to not to kick the bucket at an earlier date

The idea of exercise isn't to prolong the time leading to your death but rather to make the time leading to your death much more bearable.
