At 99$ the TP is a deal, desirability decreases as the price goes up. 270$ for 16GB is not a deal, just an outcome of euphoria/mad rush.
Quote I got from ICC clearly mentiones - Duty included.

3) The shipping charges are 10$ for the 1st 500gms and 8$ for every subsequent 500gms + 10.3%(service tax). Assuming the hp touch pad (16gb) weighs below 2kgs. The shipping charges will be 1725 INR( including taxes)
4) Assuming the hp touch pad (16gb) costs you 100 usd the duty charges will be approx..1000 INR hence the total cost of the touch pad will be approx.…7300 INR.
How did you pay for shipping?JT_daniel said:Don't think that would be with Duty, because S&S has charged me 1,725 bucks for shipping alone. Just paid it with my card.

Has your TP reached the SNS address?

My dear, The SnS quote has got no meaning, it is just an estimate.

^ I think you can increase the RAM I did that once in a Chinese tablet. That had the regular SD rams that comes in laptop so just removed that & placed in a 1gb one (it had 256MB)
Not sure about the HP Touchpad, will only be able to say for sure when i see the Disassembly video

I chose UPS and it is still in transit..Will reach NY on Tuesday..
Very interesting, eh? So HP realized there was massive demand for these and stopped the distributors from sending units out to retailers? So I guess the next wave will be priced more than the 99$ and 149$..Update from Datavis (On their facebook wall) for those who bought them on ebay...
UPDATE: Friday 7am - 1st. We would like to again reiterate this should be a constructive venue for updates and comments. Threats for feedback will not make anything move faster. If you firmly believe HP's problems which created an earthquake through their Authorized Dealer Networks is worthy of tarnishing one's company 7000 times over. It is your prerogative.
Continued: The way HP works for LARGE inventory is they allocate goods in distributor warehouses for US. We stock 99% of the items, including touchpads. The extended quantities are sometimes offered on hotter items as we have allocation and we can utilize their warehouse space.
When the floodgates opened on Saturday (with no notice from HP), we sold this massive # in a short time. When we went to pull our stock, the distributors did not want to ship, though our goods were PAID for and confirmed. It took longer than expected and some legal threats, but the money was deducted from our account x 9500 units, which COVERS ALL OF YOU.
Touchpads are in route and we will post a copy of our Bill of Lading as proof hopefully today. In addition, the bulk of the tracking #s will update tonight, with movement soon after. Please keep in mind we are working as fast as we can, we realize this will literally MAKE or BREAK our business. Please keep that in mind when you comment, threat, etc. tHERE IS ALSO A HURRICANE coming up our way, and we are not sure how much staff will be able to make it on Sunday. Again we will keep you posted.
Lastly, with regard to more units after the committed batch. We believe we will get 1 last shot of them as HP is building more. YES they do cost more than $80-$90 and everyone that HP sold for $99 was a loss. You will get your item AT THE CHEAPER PRICE YOU PAID. The next batch for new orders will be considerably more. We do not know the higher price, but please also keep that in mind when complaining. Once again, thank you once again. This is one in a million $*#& storm that nobody could ever predict. We are confident it will be handled properly.
Another mass email will also summarize the above and have further details later this evening.
