If it is unlocked it will work, there should not be any issues, i am using the modem for 12 to 14 hours daily non stop, have not faced any issues and temperatures are normal. 2.8k is a tempting price, i bought mine for 3k 10 days back.

Just the 21Mbps as comparing to 7.2Mbps of E122, or anything more also, BTW do we get anything higher than 7.2Mbps with BSNL.
The cost of UMG1831 is 25% higher than E122.

^^ Future proofing is what is the advantage....plus it supposedly tuns very cool and doesn't disconnect. Check the BSNL 3G thread for more details. Problem is E122 is out of stock everywhere nw for almost last 2-3 weeks

Seems UMG 1831 is out of stock now ! All 5 sold out in 1 hr :O
BSNL does support above 7.2 Mbps in few locations as per some posts and speedtest etc screenshots in broadbandforum.in
Also TE members also got speeds of 1 MB/s for few hours with E122 which might be an indication !
Its not about BSNL supporting....if u r spending that much its better to get the UMG 1831...just my opinion though

I have been using UMG1831, one advantage of using a higher speed modem is that the peak load is less,no disconnection, hanging or heat issues, plus you are future ready, as and when the speeds go up in the next couple of quarters you can experience the same. The way the market is trending in a few months we will only have higher speeds modem being sold and bought.
