I'm quite surprised I haven't seen one of these threads already. Looking at the biggest flagship phones for this year (till now, and perhaps for the rest of the year from both HTC and Samsung), I'm looking to buy one of them. I simply don't know which one to pick.

- I love the HTC One design, though Galaxy S4's compact shell is great as well.
- I like Sense quite a lot, TouchWiz is okay. But it's the added Software tweaks by Samsung that make the experience quite amazing, if I am to believe the adds.
- The Galaxy S4 simply has a much better camera than the HTC One.
- The Super AMOLED display has it's advantages (Daydream, pure black) but the SLCD display is gorgeous as well.

As you can see, I'm pretty messed up here :D. Don't know what to do. Don't want to end up buying an UMI X2 (or a rumored Micromax Canvas A120) or something. Why would I do that?
- Priced around 15k
- 1080p display
- Quad core
- 2 GB RAM
- 13 MP cam
- Android 4.2.1 JB

@comp@ddict, warranty won't be valid in India. I did come across some posts mentioning that HTC India offers GWS (Global Warranty Services) for $35 for devices purchased outside the country, but going by my past experience with HTC customer service, I would suggest getting it in writing from them before making the purchase.

My friend broke his HTC EVO4G/ Rider display. When he called up the toll free HTC India service no. they said they will not accept the handset for repair since it was not released in India.

But since One is going to be officially released in India why can't they repair the same here :S

Did you see the screen yourself on the Xperia Z. If you did not find any problems and were satisfied with the way how things were looking on the screen, they just buy it. You would also save substantial amount (10k or so here). Forget the internal and bazillion cores stuff, if you like it and it works for you, buy it.
Remember that nothing is future proof and new flagships will keep coming every few months (different manufacturers).

Yes, I for a fact even know the schedule of expected release (and specs :P) of next gen phones. Even then I can will myself to buy a smartphone now (even though the next one coming is beyond tempting, it's that good!).

I will go back home next month and do an extensive analysis of all the displays and try to figure out if I need to be able to view my display from a wide angle for whatever (im)practical purposes

I would choose S4, only because of better battery life and micro SD card support. I don't care much about "premium" look of phones because I invariably put case on my expensive phones :). Doesn't matter if it's plastic OR aluminum once I have the case on.

HTC offers service in India, I can confirm that this was true till a few months back atleast. I think it's handled by Redington, you can contact HTC if you want to be sure.

I had my HTC One X's main board replaced.

The phone had no problems at all. I felt the wifi reception was a little less so I tried a little DIY repair and failed miserably. On top of this I had unlocked my bootloader, so because of all this my warranty was void and the repair cost a LOT(15k).

Overall the service wasn't great. They only had basic software service here in the Bangalore office, like reflashing the ROM, things which I could have done myself. For the hardware repair they had to send it to some office in Haryana. The whole process took 2 weeks. It was horrible.

Still, in spite of the bad experience with service given a chance I would choose the One X the Galaxy S3 all over again. There's just something about the build quality and the aesthetics. You'll never get bored of it. Even one of my friends who owns an S3 says so. It's not something you can feel in five minutes but overtime you will realize it. I could never use a plasticky phone like the S3 for more than a couple of months without getting bored of it. Also i'm completely against using back covers, screen guards or any extra accessories on my phone. I prefer the phone to feel solid.

Of course this is just my view on phones, I understand the OP might be different

If you think you're someone like me then I think you should get the HTC One.

HTC One will sell more for looks than functionality i believe. Samsung on the other hand believes (i think) that features are more important and they are right in the sense that more informed users might got for features over looks but to the general public out there, "jo dikhta hai (aacha) woh hi bikta hai".
I am pretty sure sooner or later samsung too will start concentrating on having premium look for their flagship phones.

That's not going to happen for a very long time...I hate Samsung design but only speaking from a market point of view...
Do you know why HTC made best android phone out there still their revenue and income decreasing for past two year...bcoz they **** up every time with phone..
First they announce phone release date and next day they are sort on hardware to release it...
What the **** their marketing department thinking?..
And you know what's new news about htc , in Netherlands court has rule in favour of Nokia so HTC no longer receive mic. From maufacture as they have violate their patent...
HTC f*** up each and every time..
Where Samsung other hand know how to successfully launch phone in time....

I read somewhere that Note 3 is going to have some sort of plastic OLED display. Whatever that means.
What it means is.screen layer will be 50-55% less thick .

That means bigger battery capacity or thinner handset.
Not just thinner size but also increased longitivity.. Also kinda unbreakable but not one of those flexible ones.. Also they won't be having current pixel tech and will have a better one plus better rgb pixels and not pentile nonsense. Display will be much better than current samsung s4 and note2, note, s3

Whatever is the actual world performance of phone, one thing is sure. Indian people are more inclined towards Samsung than HTC. So the re-sale value of Samsung S4 will be substantially more than HTC one. If one likes to change phone often Samsung is a better bet.

That happened recently coz HTC lost its touch when it adopted android.. Wierd..

Also samsung is full of features out of the box where as HTC has always been a corporate tag to it..

Samsung is seen from teen to aunties to uncles.. HTC? Not really. Besides HTC screwed themselves.
