I'm quite surprised I haven't seen one of these threads already. Looking at the biggest flagship phones for this year (till now, and perhaps for the rest of the year from both HTC and Samsung), I'm looking to buy one of them. I simply don't know which one to pick.

- I love the HTC One design, though Galaxy S4's compact shell is great as well.
- I like Sense quite a lot, TouchWiz is okay. But it's the added Software tweaks by Samsung that make the experience quite amazing, if I am to believe the adds.
- The Galaxy S4 simply has a much better camera than the HTC One.
- The Super AMOLED display has it's advantages (Daydream, pure black) but the SLCD display is gorgeous as well.

As you can see, I'm pretty messed up here :D. Don't know what to do. Don't want to end up buying an UMI X2 (or a rumored Micromax Canvas A120) or something. Why would I do that?
- Priced around 15k
- 1080p display
- Quad core
- 2 GB RAM
- 13 MP cam
- Android 4.2.1 JB

Lag is bound to be there, some call it micro lag, some do not want to admit there is lag, but whatever it is there. Also since samsung has stuffed so many gimmicky features and are advertising as main things in S4, most reviews will try to see how actually useful these are.

What's the expected launch date for HTC One in India? I mean the day I can expect to buy it off say Flipkart (would wait for HOMESHOP18 SuperDeal on it!).

Galaxy S4 is tomorrow I believe. Yet to see the Xperia ZL on a SuperDeal yet. And Xperia Z on SuperDeal sells for 33k.

Check out the Galaxy S4 Video Reviews.
Reviewers talk a lot about the "gimmicky" features that are present.

Also, reviewers are noticing slight lag here and there. I still don't like the design (most don't).

Features = gimmicks. All the time. But sensible ones on Samsung.

Lag = not problem with the phone and will be solved with updates.

HTC still sucks.

Galaxy S4 launched.

Price 41500/-

Goes on sale tomorrow.
Was expected... In fact 500bucks less than I had bet.

Not at all worth it.

Would still say, wait for more devices.

Can't wait for trolls now :D

Trolling and nit picking issues which make no sense in real world usage / performance lol. :D:D:D:D

HTC still sucks.

Care to explain?

I am no HTC or Samsung fanboy and I am in the same dilemma as the OP but I would love to know why you are putting forward such a strong statement. For me the biggest battle is S4's beautiful display vs the beautiful design of HTC one. I would only be able to come to a decision once I put them side by side.

@raksrules - It is essentially a quad core. It might be useful if it indeed helps in achieving a better battery life. Now whether a quad core is necessary in the first place is a completely different question :D

Similar to how Octa Core makes no sense in real world usage / performance as of now ?
Only if you really read about octa core. Never mind.

No fan boy here either. But could you PLEASE care to read a few pages backwards? It's like I put a point and it's an echo, have to repeat myself over and over again!

@comp@ddict Get the XZ. You'll LOVE it :D

You gotta be really kidding with that statement. Seems you own one and is why it's the best according to u. :p

Kidding? Not at all.

Benchmarks are synthetic - really don't matter.

HTC one won't come before the end of May, and I don't think he's interested a lot in the S4.

The viable option now seems to be the XZ - which is one of the most beautiful phones ever created. There are no apps or games which refuse to work.

Before you discredit others - please give an opinion and not just bash others.

Again.. Are you kidding?

Again! Who's bashing you? Just look a few pages back..

I know he's not interested in s4 and htc isn't recommended, is why am saying "would still suggest to wait".

Problem is people don't like to read on what's been already suggested and just come out blurting their expert comments.. Seriously

Would love to seek an explanation to whether the octa thing works as expected ?
All cores work all the time ? Benefits of Octa core today and in near future (1 year).

Future? Man even 2cores were ever utilized?

Octa core is more about power saving, cores switching on and off and more.. Look up the details.. Can't type all of that from phone while travelling lol :p

Only thing that uses more cores is when it comes to gaming and camera stuff..

Also the number of cores have been increasing insanely with almost every new version of android and that's what worries me. Bigger problem? Despite of these core number game, android still won't perform as perfect.

Seriously, where is this going? Is it really needed? No. Is samsung selling 8 cores in the name of Octa core? NO.

Also it would have been awesomely different if samsung released their USA variant all over and keep aside their exynos junk aside.
Exynos do out perform qualcomm at places but then exynos isn't open.. It's source code is pain in Ass. Makes it painingly awful for the developers who make custom roms.

In short, the development scenario is gonna be as pathetic as it is right now for Note, Sgs3 and Note2.. But then again the OP isn't a Flashoholic

Only reason I suggested him S4 (incase he doesn't want to wait for new Nexus or so) is samsung right now is the most feature loaded phone which is good enough for an end user who's not a Flashoholic.

There are two types of users :-

1.Those who buy phones which look good.
2.Those who buy phones which perform good, have features and good service (which HTC doesn't have at all).

So it's simple, those who buy phones by looks will always suggest Sony/HTC, those who want awesome features with normal looks and good service will suggest Samsung....

I don't see even 1 good reason to buy a Sony phone, ever..
