CPU/Mobo Intel Sandy Bridge Processors/Mobo prices/availability

Rs. <12k is cool, but the mobos are seriously overpriced. What's the cheapest P67? 9k or so?
Weren't motherboards always overpriced in India compared to the US? The cheapest boards could possibly be the ones with the H67 chipset but even then we end up paying a premium. As long as we do, all we need is better support least of all.

Never this overpriced! In fact, look at the AMD motherboards. Believe it or not, they are exactly the same price as US! (And in the case of something like Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H even CHEAPER!) Granted Intel mobos were always a bit overpriced, but by exchange rate it would be about Rs. 50 or so. But 10k for a motherboard which costs $130??? (the cheapest Asus P67) That's exorbitant man...

BTW, there are some cheaper Intel P67 motherboards... Are these any good for OC?

Check out the Thai pricing of the boards - Welcome to JEDI Accessory Overclock

Not sure about the OC part of the cheaper boards though.

Motherboards were never too expensive in india actually, at least since 2005-2006. They have been mostly just above the US prices.

But since the X58 and P55 launch, motherboard prices have gone up quite a bit(even in the US). Even though the actual cost of producing the motherboards has gone down drastically.

Earlier Intel was selling Northbridge(Memory controller + Integrated Graphics) + Southbridge combo based boards. Now since everything is essentially integrated onto the CPU, they're selling pretty much just a southbridge, and the prices have actually increased  A G31/41 motherboard which actually costs Intel MORE to produce than a H55/H67 motherboard sells for half the price. No wonder Intel has posted record Gross margins this quarter.

I bought a Biostar TP35D2-A7 motherboard in Sep 2007 for 4.5k. US price at the same time was $110. And it is a terrific overclockers board. Im afraid if i want a good Sandy bridge motherboard i will have to shell out at least 6k :@

Meh, launch prices of mobo's and cpu's are ridiculous. I think i'll wait till March/April/Z68 (depending on mood, prices and availability of cash)

I m looking out for the following motherboards

ASUS P8P67 PRO
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4
ASRock P67 Extreme4

The ASUS P8P67 Deluxe is wonderful but out of budget...I would prefer the Gigabyte model as it has outright support for XP(i would transition 2 Windows 7 but would have XP as a dual boot option) but it doesn't provide a USB 3.0 bracket like the other 2 models who provide a USB 3.0 bracket/front panel in their package...
Does the ASUS P8P67 PRO support XP?
Haven't heard about ASRock earlier and would ASRock P67 Extreme4 be available for purchase in India?
or better can i purchase the USB 3.0 front panel separately?

Any suggestions/advice pls??? Thanks.

To use front bracket header u need to have a Cabby with front USB3 ports... And yes P8P67 Pro has front usb header...

The Gigabyte UD4 neither has the front panel nor the bracket. Whereas the ASUS pro gives the bracket and the ASUS deluxe and ASRock Extreme 4 provide a separate 5.25" front panel that connects to the USB 3.0 internal header of the M/B. If I go for the Gigabyte I'd need to purchase a separate USB 3.0 front panel of sorts to utilize the USB 3.0 M/B header.
I still don't know whether the ASUS M/B's support XP or whether ASRock's M/B sales n service is notable here.
