Here's an amazing statistic for Apple's total dominance - iPhone revenues for Q4 2011 (Q1 FY2012) was $24 billion. Microsoft in its entirety with hundreds of products could only muster $21 billion.

Apple introduced minor ASIC changes with minimal R&D costs into a near-identical 15 month old shell and that was enough to sell 37 million iPhones at premium prices. On the other hand poor Samsung released 30 different kinds of smartphones with massive consumer research and R&D costs to suit the various needs of consumers in several different price segments and could only manage 35 million sales.

Apple is now more valuable than Greece and has way more cash than US. Has there ever been a company or any organization this dominant? I think universities and business students will study Apple for centuries to come. It is the perfect business.

Shouldn't we have a survey on,'count of dumb round the world'
<

No offense, but what apple or fanboys trying to prove with such articles ?

You know whats not dumb. Generating 46 Billion in a quarter. For you it might be a small number but for a lot others its big. Way bigger then any US analyst imagine.

Seriously bro! That's the best you could say .

It's not article made-up by a fan boy .Whether you like it or not , that is the fact and it just happened.

Respect apple for what they have done rather than making this as apple fanboy vs apple haters fight...

In my personal opinion, Apple is doing the best among all in Phone/tablet industry.. I never had iphone/ipad yet though..

Keep up the good work Apple..

it takes an incredible amount of hardwork to get that kind of success.ofcourse a "genius" like you can figure that out easily i suppose.

In a midst of an economic downturn,to manage such high numbers is an unbelievable feat and i think there are about 30,000 apple employees who should be proud of their hardwork.

Keep up the good work apple.

^ and no mention of Steve Jobs? Its one thing to build a fantastic phone but to get millions of people to buy it, is a feat by itself.

jobs obviously had his imprint on products, but being a business guy i cant help but admire the way apple management and its employees have gone about their work in his loss and a plethora of other issues.despite growing competition they have gone about their work properly, thats why i praised the management and employees.

On a side note.....i guess the bigger a a brand/company gets its gonna come down definately....the only question is when...

i think with such a large market share from here or in the near future ...all apple can do is only loose its share....it might be dominant but only for a while while others try to catch up....just my thoughts....

Huh? This is like saying Walmart earned more than Ford. How do you compare a hardware company to a software company? How about comparing Mac sales to Windows?

Wow! :rubbing hands in evil excitment: Just waiting for the Apple users to know that they are being ripped off! Wait :smacks head: they love being ripped off.

As for Apple, please, I can only equate them with US in the way they shut down MU like Apple tries to shut down Android.

As for the reply from the Apple fanboi's, nothing less expected from them.... :snorts:

How exactly were apple fans "ripped off" ? Care to elaborate instead of making foolish comments.

There is a big difference in the analogy you are giving.

#agantuk

They compete in the market.ios vs wp7,osx vs w7.the fact that an entire company got overtaken by a single product of a company then its worth shouting about.

#vantheman5211, you can't compare different things here. If the talk is about iPhones, how much of the revenue in an iPhone comes from iOS is the question. Microsoft, to my knowledge, doesn't sell any WP7 phone. They have licensed their OS for device manufacturers. If we compare different data, then well, Walmart earns more selling cheap stuff as opposed to Apple which requires a 'premium' product to get their moolah.

^^ they compete in the same market, thats what matters.wp7 has premium phones as well and they compete for that market.microsoft gets a share on every windows phone.they target the same market but have different strategies.

:snorts: Yet another 'Apple' fanboi who thinks Apple does not rip us off.... As far as I know, pricing for India is different, not to forget we get locked phones. Any more points to not?

As for the point made by #aguntak, it is also perfectly valid. Since both companies have different business models.

BTW, if you are still harping on, let me know when it crosses the GDP of USA.

the price of the 4s was decided by airtel and aircel lamer.apple's 4s is priced very nicely in most parts of the world.

you can check when apple overtakes usa on your i200 with those sms news updates you have.

as for product economics.if two companies target the same market they are competitors.

different strategies, different products, different user base... Apple, Samsung, Microsoft...

One aim, making revenue... and from the numbers in the first post, APPLE IS THE CURRENT KING
