The Alarm provided on GS2 works fine. Are you on a custom ROM ?
Actually the issues people facing are real, but probably not the fault of phone or ROM but rather common mistakes made by people or simply because they dont know about certain features.
Most people having alarm issues are
1. Either using task killers which end up killing clock app and clock getting killed at wrong time = nightmare.
Solution : exclude clock from task killer or better, stop using task killers and memory purging programs, they are waste.
2. ON samsung and unknowingly enabled smart alarm on their Galaxy series phones without knowing how it works.
Solution : Disable smart alarm or go to youtube and search for samsung smart alarm. It works differently than traditional alarm clock.
All you guys who say Apple is brilliant at marketing lousy products, just read the article below.
Do you think that a company with lousy products can actually achieve what Apple has managed to do?
http://articles.econ...hone-steve-jobs
Its not really down to lousy products, but incomplete products sold under pretence as being the best in the market that annoys most people who absolutely hate apple for that.
Every couple of years I end up giving Apple one more chance and end up regretting it. iPhone is actually most tolerable product Apple makes. iMacs and Macbooks is entirely different story.
There are couple of people who are working in creative content creation areas right here on TE who have worse stories than what I will ever have to say when they made Mac switch. But I will leave it to them to put that forward themselves some other day.
Personally, I find the Macbooks insufficient as a device on which I can totally depend on. I have a Macbook unibody late 2009 and at that time it was probably the best 13 incher in the market with student discount which I got thanks to student ID of my sister, but it has been 2 years of constant frustration and struggle every now and then since then.
I love the design, hate the operating system. And no, I did not buy MB to put windows on it. I bought it to use OSX and problems it has given me over 2 years are endless. This is mainly because I dont just use the machine as a simple PC, but I actually need it to work with different devices / peripherals, to do things other than simple web browsing or word processing or simple video editing. My requirements go beyond that. The problems with wireless USB sticks are most annoying so far. And then there are some annoying aspects of OSX that can make you pull your hair.
The main issue is there are no simple fixes. Its not like Microsoft is perfect, but they learned from their goof ups and actually made their desktop operating environment better with Windows 7.
Apple actually refuses to change some things. Some things are soo obvious, but its their my way or high way mentality that has resulted in certain things continuing to annoy their users for years. The way finder works, the way program behaves and stays running, the way the damn thing keeps adding multiple hardwares each time I plug in USB modem and so on. List is long. But lets not discuss that here in this section.
Its same with iPhone, but to more tolerable extent. And its actually a good phone. But its ecosystem is built on a model which I find unsuitable for my personal use as a primary device.
Fashion sells, trend sells and Apple is good at setting a trend. They successfully make a big deal out of something thats actually not worth much to end user, but you have to give it to them for being able to successfully executing that over last 10 years.
Take example of 4S. Their driving point was Dual core processor and SIRI. I dont really experience much difference in performance between my 1 generation old iPod touch which has A4 chip for most part. And SIRI is useless in India. It simply is not good at handling even the most westernised Indian accents and has diminished capability due to simple fact that we are located in India. But that does not stop Apple fan club from singing its praises.
But its an iconic device with flaws that I know will probably never get fixed in the life cycle of the device I own.
Granted, I am hardcore Android user since it came out, but I am curious enough to actually wanting to experience even the products which are as tied down as iPods or iPhone. Mainly to see whats all the fuzz is about. And like I said, I end up giving Apple a chance every now and then. They may be the richest tech company in the world, but that does not automatically mean they make the best products out there. They dont. But their products are trend setters, a fashion statement and most importantly they market it as something which you should be proud to own or boast about.
Human mind is fascinating thing. We fall pray to something which we know is not always correct, but its how something makes us feel that makes us to buy and love flawed products.
