Just a Question here. Can sony force an Update on us like they do in xbox360. Lets say A new Game XYZ comes out ,now to play it we necessarily need to install an update?

Yes. That is exactly what I had to do when i attempted Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, GOW 3 etc. They forced me to do a firmware update. :)

Now if this check can be bypassed using another hack, all's set. :D

IF YOU WANT to access PSN in any way then yes

they don't force it but when you try to enter,if ask's you to do it.if you don't then you can't go on PSN

if you stay offline then you will be fine atleast for the games released till now

Dhruv....Please update, if u can earn trophy if played via PSJB???
obviously they can't be synchronised @ once, but do they synchronize after removing the PSJB & connecting to Internet ??? DLing 20 GB on 8mbps line...is bliss :P
If this is works....Hell yeah...I Will JB it...but will wait n see...wat they do of FW 3.42 and how quick they r on updating the CFW :)

SO the wait n watch session begins :P

Then it makes very little sense to JB it. I mean they can disable the Debugg Hack without even disabling the USB Port. Its just that the hack isnt effecting sales as of now hence there is no concrete and drastic action taken by Sony. Sony thrives solely on its exclusives and this hack would again lead to major decrease in profits.
Heck the PSN issue is a small fry. I have never felt the need to go onlive on my Xbox in all these years.

Yes , you do earn trophies even after the JB.

Another good news is that you can burn games to DVD and play them :D Obviously only those which can fit in a DVD....

The only solution for future games atm seems to be CFW. It is certainly feasible that a CFW will appear. 3.42 will most probably NOT be hacked.

ATM yes. But like Dhruv has mentioned, if another haxor comes up with a custom firmware for the PS3, boom! :D

Major decrease in profits - maybe with game sales i.e. since most of the titles would make it to torrents but this should see a considerable increase in the sales of the consoles. And the custom USB boards as well. :P

But I am not sure if it would be worthwhile downloading all those exclusive titles through torrents, utilising whatever little bandwidth for downloading about 30~40GB odd games (like GOW3 for instance!), transferring it to external hard drives etc. If I would ever hack mine, rest assured I will never download those exclusive titles. I play a game for about 300~400 INR max and sell it off. At least that way I shall ensure that I support the developers. :P

I am thinking of buying a ps3.If i jailbreak my ps3 now will i be able to restore it to original state to play online after a few months by formating the ps3 hard drive.Or is it that if the ps3 is jailbroken it is permanent jailbroken.

U can buy all those games which are way too big :P .... n download games under 20gb :) .... as its not possible to buy each and every game you want to play :|

Truth be told... i am only downloading those games which i would not have bought anyways. I just got Wipeout and Top Spin 3. I wouldn't have the patience to download those HUGE exclusives and honestly.. i'd just rent it and be done with it. They are not loosing a sale because of me downloading Top Spin. I would never have bought the game as it is...

:bleh: True ... there are few games which i really want to play .. but as told my friends they are not so worth the money spent ...so m holding back ... will now download them and try :P

Correct me if i am wrong but its not a Custom Firmware as much as a unsigned code running to bypass the security Check by making it believe its in Debug state. I would not go to the extent of calling it a Firmware since they still do not have access to the Core components.
I am not disputing the Hack its just that i am questioning the sustainability of it which would play a Big part in its adoption.

Also to others who are saying that games are 20gb etc please check the Private Torrent sites. I mean how can the Multiplatforms vary in size from one console to the other. Mafia 2 is roughly same size on both. Burnout Paradise is 3gb! . The Trully superb part of this Hack is that we dont need expensive media to burn games :P .

Coming to the Increase in sales with this Hack i think Xbox 4gb Arcade still has the Edge when it comes to the casual gamer to run pirated games.

Most of the Exclusives are done by First Party Developers who are funded in parts by Sony.So it does stand to loose a lot :P

@Dhruv - I am follower of the "Thou shalt not judje another living entity on interweb" principle :P . so its cool whatever you do i am just following the Business aspect of this.

Also dont be stuck up on GOW 3 Size to judje the Exclusives. Let me check SCC if Heavy Rain and UC1&2 have been released. I would post back with their sizes.

I think what he meant to say was that .. what if some hacker comes up with a Custom Firmware and not calling the hack to be a Custom Firmware ... n yea about the size point ... i meant the exclusives not multi platforms ... exclusives are in the range of 10-20gb ... wheres multiplatforms are well under 10gb ...

BTW u can also run a game from a DvD-R if it fits on it ... For eg. Burnout Paradise which is 3gb can be wrote down on a DvD-R and played by inserting it into the console :D

Yes... thats what i meant. The only way we're gonna get future games is via CFW. This of course ain't CFW....

Also... Exclusives DESERVE to be bought. I am only dlding the shovelware which i wouldn't have bought anyways << not trying to justify piracy tho >>

Also... UC 1&2 are both bigger than 12GB , Heavy Rain is like 16GB or sthn...
