Exactly so to waste one tomato how much tax does one have to pay ?sid_donnydarko said:The average entrance fee is 5 euros for an event like this in europe and elsewhere where its regularily held. 5 euros is the equivalent of two regular meals in said countries.
We pay Rs.1200/- or the equivalent of 30 regular meals in our country :O
yeah, already factored inmehrotra.akash said:IMO the correct solution would be to put an entertainment or luxury tax on this event

quixand said:By your logic, adding another wasteful event to an existing event, I hope you are broadminded enough to process that.....oh wait!
If half the proceeds from ticket money was going to being tomato prices down in this inflated country none would mind. In India people give away food, not throw it away, so stop justifying a glamorised food fight.
They are saying that they will use tomatoes that can not be consumed
quixand said:^^ Then they should do exactly that. Play Holi. Do we really need this? Save up all the "unconsumables" and use it on Holi. Why does this event wreak of wannabeism? More so because of the timing of the event.
You do know that "cannot be consumed" perishable items have a lot of use other than feeding people. ex. fodder.
When a country has food crisis, the last thing people want to see is a food fight, if it is "not fit for consumption" then make efforts to save them from getting rot in the first place.
And yes, this is a free country. But where do we draw the line? This event is wasteful.
"This is a free country" is such a lame excuse to get away with anything. A choice in IEMs is not a very good analogy, it is not wasteful and does not have a detrimental effect.
People piss on the streets because this is a free country, that's a better analogy.
And personally I'm against this whole trend of calling someone a wannabe.. This is the worst form of premature judgment.. Not every person can have the same interests as you. Some guys spend 30k on shades & jeans, others may buy pc hw, buying a trashed bike and rebuilding it, going to Thailand, go skydiving, donate to a charity
The amount of tomatoes used for this event will only be a miniscule part of the total lott being thrown away every year.. Atleast some farmers make a quick buck.
