Who's TRAI to decide how many Texts i send?

This is a totally wrong approach to stop telemarketing. Which idiot came up with this? Hope its challenged asap in the court of law.

I think it was done to prevent the stupid telemarketing messages who message you even when dnd is active through private mobile nos.

Yeah. It doesnt affect ppl out of college. In college i knew few who just text 150 msgs a day (Mind u its excluding the fwds :P)

The TRAI notification has been misread - intentionally or otherwise. The notification states that to prevent telemarketers from abusing their freedom post registration, service providers are not allowed to sell packages with more than 100 SMS/day. Now it is being told to the regular user that they cannot make more than 100 SMS / day as per a TRAI order.

100 sms/day is more than enough for most, now there will be a drastic reduction in the no. of stupid forwarded messages :)
God knows why someone even forwards to you

Hello Guys

New crap by Trai just got sms by airtel that as per Trai regulations effective 01-feb-2011 you can send a maximum of 100 free/ discounted sms's per day.

wow thats bull crap and waste of what all packs activated.

looks like we are heading down way far as fast we started upwards
well, that just bullshit's their 700 sms/day plan for Rs88 hmm..

Any other user (SP) got this?? I mean I'm on airtel 2 phones, both received this message. Is this airtel FUPing the mobile world too?

Hmm interesting. And of course the sps will try to make it look like TRAI is the culprit.

This can be a real story but what our operators msg us was simple max 100 sms no more this means if they offer and allow to telemarketing people no one stop them anyways. i think trai needs to do this for all 100 free or discounted max a month from any mobile

this is f**king insane, who the hell is TRAI to decide what i do, and in what amount i do it? God, what is happening these days.

(btw i send around 120 sms's a day, most of the time chatting with friends)

This is the excerpt from TRAI's release.

10. Concerns have been expressed about the telemarketing calls/SMSs
from unregistered telemarketers, who can be any of the 700 million
subscribers. With a simpler registration process, it is expected that all
telemarketers will register themselves with TRAI. Nevertheless, in order
to minimise such instances, the Regulations provide that no service
provider shall provide packages containing more than 100 SMS per day.
The Regulations also provide that in the event of such an Unsolicited
Commercial Communication (from an unregistered ordinary subscriber)
he will be warned on the first offence and his telephone disconnected on
commission of the second offence.

I have 1p/SMS Local/National pack activated and I don't send more than 50 sms in whole month, so I am not affected by this...btw I use Reliance CDMA and pack cost is Rs 11/month :D

this country is progressing.... backwards
100% agree with u we did a lot in forward and make things float in market like no value at all. mobile in india is a joke but now looks thing moving back.

Bad news for me atleast. Though I won't cross 100sms / day may be, not sure. But daily sms is almost close to 100sms/day never counted like that :P

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Though I didn't get any such news from Vodafone, I use 80/- (500sms per day) pack every month.

200 would've been much much better. It's actually not a bad move even though it affects me quite a bit. Shame some idiots have to ruin it for everyone.
