^ Enjoying the setup as well as critical listening are important for writing impressions / reviews IMO. Just enjoying the setup might result in giving wrong impressions to the readers and Ive see that happen often with some guys :P.
I agree. But we hav u to write reviews, our AUDIOPHILE:ohyeah:

Also, i have S:Flo2 but i dont know how to write a review! :P

All i know is that s:flo2 is somewhat better than my onboard realtek HD sound when using M2 on both. I havent done critical listening though :)

dragonball sounded like he was not about to write a review. So, why bother listening critically?

why to waste time in finding flaws in sound and going technical. thts y i never liked re0

Now this is a whole different thing. I actually prefer IEMs that are a bit analytical. They are enjoyable on a whole different level.

the music which is less "flawed" is understandably more pleasant(/enjoyable/etc.) to hear
Depends on ur rig, how much it can reveal ur source, My re1 dont show tht much details as re0 so i can enjoy some poorly recorded tracks too with it

re0 was too thin for my taste

Actually i wanted to write reviews. But i haven't done critical listening so i cannot write reviews.
My point was that critical listening is necessary for writing reviews. :D

Could not agree more.It is such a pain in the a$$.I was trying to compare IE8 and SM3 over some Porcupine Tree, both sounded great, but I didnot enjoy either as I was trying to find faults.Oh yes,for the first time I was able to distinguish bteween FLAC and 320kbps mp3s with SM3.

^ +1 . A blind test using ABX software in foobar and make sure the 320 kbps is extracted from the same FLAC file using a converter/software. :)

OK,just did what you guys asked.

Album:The Incident,Porcupine tree

Converter:Xillisoft audio converter

But didnot use foobar, listened them in cowon v5,

Out of 14 songs from the first cd could distinguish 12.

Will try with IE8 in the evening with some newly acquired trance music.BTW Infected Mushrooms are awesome, thanks for the recommendation.

^ you are welcome. Infected indeed rocks very hard. :)
I also tried Lady GaGa - Alejandro (Skrillex remix) 320kbps (direct download from skrillex site, search google). That also has weird sounding bass discs sound. Try that too.

@red dragon You really have "golden ears". I have never been able to tell difference between even between 320kbps and flac. :(
@Faheem Don't we need to extract mp3 from the same source as flac? mp3 from flac is as good?

^ Theoretically, FLAC is lossless. So, MP3 converted from it should be good. But, I'd prefer ripping FLAC and MP3 fresh from the same original source.

I did some cheating buddy,no matter which converter you use there is some hissing sound and I can pick that up.

^ You are ripping from a CD? Then try EAC / foobar and rip it to FLAC and 320kbps. See if you hear any difference?

Errr hissing sound should be there with both the files not one .Hope you ripped it properly. Also dont judge using your brains and ears combo .. Try the ABX software , you will know the true result. Even I always feel FLAC is so much better than 320 kbps MP3 but when Brendon asked me to try out the ABX test , I realized I scored only 3 or 4 / 10. If you can actually get a positive result with ABX you surely are lucky enough to have some real golden ears and ofcourse a very good gear at hand :D .

foobar does reduce the hissing in audio files ....some FLACs that i listened to whith my maveric + AKG ( with TF10 this hissing is absent) combo heavily hissed with Media player 11 ...its been greatly reduced with foobar!!

Yeah the ABX Comparator is a very humbling piece of software. :P

I too was under the impression that I could differentiate between 320 kbps mp3 files and FLAC files but with the ABX comparator I never got more than 6/10 which is as good as guessing. :(

I never had that problem. I'm sure my ears are incapable of finding differences, so I never bothered. Even if I try, I might score a 0 - 2 /10, if that comforts you :)
