New audio system...

These are upscalers for existing DVDs not bluray/HD-DVD. They work in the digital domain and the output is much much better than the streteched 480i/480p produced by the TV itself. These players are for SD content not HD content. HDTV is not a marketing gimmick if you get HDTV signal like in the US. In India, its basically useless. Everything it does can be achieved by a normal TV for a fraction of the price. Infact IMHO an HDTV looks worse with an SD signal than a normal TV. I'm talking from my experience of using a 50" NEC Plasma at our office. NEC is supposed to be one of the best for plasma TVs.

you mean to say these upscalers(720p) works in normal dvd and it will display better picture on tv. does my dvd player 625k have upscalers?

Its either something that sits between your display and dvd player or is built into the dvd player. Cheap players like philips will only display at 480p max. You need to upgrade ur dvd player to one of the lower end denons at the very least.

@kk: All high TVs have some sort of scaling chip built in but scaling in the digital domain as done by dvd players generally way better than scaling in analog for obvious reasons. Also most TVs don't have a high quality chip to save costs :p.

Not meaning to thread steal or OT :) , but could you point me in the general direction of any shops or places I could buy a similar setup.
There is a Jamo shop in Bandra somewhere. Wharfedale is available at Designer Audio Vile Parle and also at Tardeo. I'm not really aware of the rest.... Zhopudey should comment :p.

u have seen the wrong model.
its written in 5100k/69's manual. its not listed in the product catalogue but in support u can get manual

Anirudh, when you refer to 720p/i etc., you are talking about the number of scanlines, ie the vertical resolution. So that means the second part of AxB (ie B) must be 720.

@Chaos: Also, since HDTV has a 16:9 resolution, shouldn't that be 1280x720? How is it 1366? Are they using non-square pixels?

The rest of the pixels are for got knows what... its called enhanced HDTV or something. All new HDTVs are that resolution.

EDTV is different from HDTV, but yes, I remember something too.... those are non-display pixels, and they do carry some information too...

Not EDTV thats different :p. This is enhanced HDTV or something... it allows overlays on both sides of the video i think or something like that :p.

Update: Didn't appreciate the old speakers too much... guess i got spoilt by my HD580 :p. so got new ones... Jamo E855. These are bloody incredible. Lots of moolah burnt though :(. Anyone want my mint condition s408 towers? nothing wrong with them... only that its not my taste. Too much bass :p.

^^The shop owner was told by some higher up cinebels dude that they don't do exchanges. So well he tried to help by selling them off... so me trying the same as well :p. The damage for the new one is 38K.
