Chaos , the above $900 includes $ 60 tax (Rs.2750) which in most cases is not applicable. guess goldie must be getting it delivered to california or NJ.
also where will you get 2GB patriot signature rams here in India for Rs. 8.5K ?? it would be in the range of 10 ~ 12K atleast.
so if you calculate the actual difference it comes to around 8 ~ 9K atleast ....
About the ram, these days you can get the same samsung UCCC with brainpower PCB for 4.2-4.3K. Thats what I counted. There's nothing special about that patriot other than the fact that it is samsung UCCC.

There is one major problem with the NF4 SLI16X chipset which strangely no one highlighted.... the CPU to northbridge uses 8 bit HTT unlike other chipsets that use 16bit HTT. This will cause a major drop in professional apps like 3dsmax and stuff. However for, gaming it doesnt make a diff.

yup i know chaos.:) but sadly these are the times of the E-Penis syndrome. Branding and looks matter more to the members then functionality.:( if you suggest a cheaper , equivalent item to a well known , costlier, branded item then hell hath no fury like a "cartel" scorned .....

since goldie wanted patriot rams only i think we should take that only into consideration while guesstimating the price here locally. otherwise there is no limit to finding cheaper alternatives ...

@deejay... The Patriot is cheaper.

Its 155 Dollars, for 2GB (1*2GB Matched pairs)

Which is like 6000 Rs. (So iv already thought about that, why shouldnt i go for it when lower qual are more expensive here?)

Plus, my relative is coming on 19th of this month. So im getting down to ordering rom newegg. Now!

So its,

1 * WD Raptor 74 GB - 155$

Patriot Signature 2GB (2 x 1GB) - 155$

How much is the DFI Lanparty Ultra-D here? Again, shall i go with the Sli-DR Expert? Since i can source it from USA, for the same price as an Ultra-D is here. (I figure the Ultra-D should be sumwhere around 9000. (Sli-DR Expert is $190.99)

For RAM i would say go for it. Get it from US. It does not matter much. Its way too cheap there.

For critical components i would like to stay with local purchase.

And HDD is not about pricing re. Its the most delicate part in computer. Its very easy to damage HDD in transit.

A sensible and vfm guy buying cheaply (from here or abroad... it does not matter ) usually has the means to send and receive the RMA products at very little cost.:D

thats what. We are being sensible to order it locally. We dont have means to send it back and get it replaced from there :P

How much is the 74 GB Raptor for, here?

If its anything above 7000. Im getting it from US. All my HDD's are from US. And in Transit, its hard for it to get damaged. As when the Drive is parked, it can take a lot of manhandling. I 4got how much :/.

Shit. The Patriot Signature Memory Line is Dual Channel or not???

Which RAM should i go for then? From Newegg.com only.

Here are the choices from Patriot..

Here are all the 2GB Kits available...

Im suddenly thinking...

2x1GB G.Skill Extreme Series F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ - Samsung UCCC which has done 3-4-4-8 1T @ 275MHz | 2.72v @ XS..

Ahem... I have a upper limit of 200$ for the RAM.

Dad actually said dont spend more than 8k on RAM. Its ok if i go a bit overboard.

Not that overboard.

I think 2x1GB G.Skill Extreme Series F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ - Samsung UCCC fits nicely. Dont you think. :).

Edited : Oops wrong link :).

This is the BEST of OCZ... eva2000 @ XS | 2x1GB OCZ PC4000EB Platinum - Infineon CE-6 | 3-3-2-5 1T @ 282MHz | 2.66v

I dont think its work spending 80 dollars extra on it.

Yup. I think thats the RAM ill go for.

Also now, the DFI Ultra-D will suffice, or should i go with the SLI-DR Expert? Coz i can afford it :D. ;).

lol there are way better RAMs available for $300 price tag.

Investing that much in CH-5 is not recommended.

That gskill or ocz pc3200 is much better vfm.

^^DO NOT buy stuff based on infineon (all the 2-3-2-5 ram) for daily use. They bench rather well but are not 3D stable. There have been complaints everywhere that there are major issues keeping them stable in 3D games. The 2GBHZ which goldie referenced is really nice ram for cheap. Get that.

@Udit: Are you nuts? 4x512MB TCCD is insane LMAO. 4x512MB CH/BH still makes sense but 4 of those TCCD sticks won't even reach their rated DDR550 speeds. Also corsair sucks!

Funky, 200$.

DD, my uncle is coming from Usa on 19th. Newegg.com doesnt ship here.

haha no, he edited his message, first he had linked the mishkin xtreme performance PC 4000 from newegg.

CH-5 $330 :P

Thats why i posted my remark lol :P

corsair chips looks gr8 to me ...... only chip that can run with 2-2-2-5 timings at stock speeds :) ...... anyways OCZ are also gr8 and i will suggest that ....

GF i will say get the UCCC chips from here ..... it doesn't worth the troble for just 10-20Mhz more overclock :D
