WP Nokia Lumia 520 - Discussion Thread

Yeah there should have been a way to enable the finer shortcuts pinned to the main menu. You can download apps. that makes shortcuts for enabling wifi, bluetooth, 3G network and flight mode. I have ConnectivityShortcuts on mine.
 
Played around with my 520 for past 2 days. Pretty much impressed with the phone, and coming from Froyo WP8 looks fresh. But I am stumped why normal mp3 cannot be set as ringtones. I did tried Rinngtone makes from Nokia, but somehow it does not work with all files, not even on those downloaded from Nokia Music.

Also, WP8 knowledgeable guys, please suggest must-have Apps that work fine. Have no time to try out and then uninstall ones not working fine.

Thanks is there something like ES File Explorer here and any good music players

Okay, I had the same issue with the 520 today and thought this was definitely a hardware bug. But probing the button a bit more, I realized the rubber padding on the backside had popped out, probably while replacing the sim card.. So I just opened the back cover, and pushed the button out. Work's flawless. Tested several times and trust me, it was a great relief !

Yes that happens, I tried that too. My piece had a problem with the button inside. Wouldn't register the second step in the two step click camera button.
 
Not really related to the 520, but Nokia service is awesome, I broke the charging port on my 710 and it was 2 weeks after the warranty period. I just went to the service center and they fixed it, and didn't charge me anything :D (the repair actually costs 1250), they have definitely retained my business for my next phone. :)

Use PC to connect to the phone and put the ringtones inside the "ringtones" folder.

Well people having trouble with the "ever increasing other folder issue" might try a factory reset and then immediately disabling photo sync to sky drive. Seems to have halted my issue.

I got one. The service is a bit slow. Somehow they did not mark my order as "Verified" for 2-3 days. It was pending in "Created" state for some time. I had to call them to get it to verified, and then it got delivered after 7-8 days. Overall, I am happy with the way they handled it, but expect some delays in shipping.
 
Hey guys is it true that apps, especially games, are badly optimized for WP8 ? I read somewhere that dual krait on wp8 is like dual cortex a9 on ics 4.0.
Also read that games take too much of ram. Is it true ?

Yes, this works flawless. Sign-on to the same account, and make sure "find my phone" option is checked in the phone.
