Guys, I went to see Branch Manager at SBI today for the Yuva Card. I don't believe, he's also not aware of that card. He never heard of that card in his life and says "who told you that Meastro is not accepted globally?" After a lot of coversation on this he said me "We've International Debit Card and Gold Card". I thought that, I wont be getting Yuva Card and after talking to Cash Manager, I was glad that at least he knows about it or you can say I was glad at least he heard about that card at least knows the name. But he's saying it's only for Yuva A/c and to get that card I need to maintain a balance above Rs. 5000/-

After he said this I guessed he might be talking about some other card. So I want to know is this true??? Is he really talking about Yuva Card?? When I said him that nothing like this is mentioned on their site, he says maybe it's not updated or mentioned but he can show me the conditions paper. So what you guys(Yuva Card holder) say??
Again BS.
That man is talking about the Gold card, which does require the account holder to maintain a minimum quarterly account balance of Rs. 5000. I know this because, only yesterday a friend of mine decided to get this card. We went to the branch to get a YUVA card, but my friend suddenly changed his mind and asked for the GOLD card and its conditions. The cc person said you have to maintain QAB of Rs. 5000. My friend went for this as this too is a international debit card on VISA platform but has higher overseas cash withdrawal and spending limits than the YUVA VISA card. He thought it might be useful when he goes abroad, he has his reasons.:S

Simply put, YUVA card exists for people who cant manage QAB of Rs. 5000. Heck, if i am not wrong, its the cheapest VISA based debit card out there.

Thanks, But how would I get his/her contact number?? I got the customer care number from B2 webiste. Any possibilites if I visit nearest Branch??
And can anyone please confirm the SBI one??

I'd like to know one more thing....If I don't get the Yuva Card, can I register my existing ATM-cum-Debit Card(Meastro) here - https://cardsecurity.enstage.com/ACSWeb/EnrollWeb/SBI/main/index.jsp
Will I get the same facility??

No you cant use that facility. Its for VISA card holders only, kinda security feature by VISA which is used whenever one makes online payment/purchases.

OK thanks for clarifying that I'm right. So now what to do?? Any ideas?? As no one in my branch knows about the existence of Yuva Card even the Branch Manager. :(

Should I look in other branches?? Can I apply for the card there??

I've one more thing in mind, If other branch who issues Yuva Card doesn't issue me the card, can I speak to my branch manager to get the card from other branch if they refuses to issue that easily??

What I mean is, if other branch issues me the card easily, I've no problem, otherwise can I speak to branch manager to get the card from other branch??

Can online shopping-read EBAY- or purchases be made using SBI mastercard debit card? If I choose to go for the SBI Mastercard Debit card the minimum I need to deposit in the account is 1000rs as and pay 100rs a year for the debit card.

Can withdrawals be made using the SBI Mastercard debit card at other NON SBI ATMS-for example - ICICI / HDFC/ etc?

I went to the SBI bank and was told that to avail YUVA VISA Debit card I need to maintain a minimum of 5000rs Account balance.

eBay allows purchase/payment through Paisa Pay using either a VISA or MASTERCARD based Debit card, you might remember seeing this option when we are at the final stage of making a payment.
Withdrawals can be made at any ATM that supports VISA or MASTERCARD based cards ( the sign can be usually seen hanging outside the ATM). Withdrawal is not possible for cards like MAESTRO and CIRRUS at these ATMs. So no worries for VISA/MASTERCARD at non-home bank ATMs.

The VISA Gold Debit Card, requires one to maintain a minimum QAB of Rs. 5000. There is also a MASTERCARD Gold Debit Card iirc. Both have the requirement of the minumum QAB.

YUVA Card, on the other hand, is purely VISA based and the QAB doesnt apply here. I had asked the CC of my branch the same, and she flatly refused any such condition, but she confirmed the same for the other two Gold Cards.

Yes, all online purchases can be made with the SBI MASTERCARD Debit Card - read eBay especially.

Yes...!! Ofcrs...!! But get Visa instead of MasterCard.

Any particular reasons for that ?

is that really our choice ????

It is. If you opt for the Gold Debit Card, then you can choose either the VISA or the MASTERCARD platform. In case of YUVA, you get VISA by default.

isn;t it??? I thought....going for a Visa based card are always better than choosing mastercard based cards.

VISA and MASTERCARD are similar in terms of reach and use, so there should be no issues.

Sorry....But I thought Visa is much better because I see max number of peoples go for Visa. Otherwise I see MasterCard anywhere there is Visa.

BTW no one knows about Yuva Card at my branch...even the Branch Manager is speaking BS. Can I apply it on other branch..??

Dont know about that man, i suggest you personally go to another well established branch and ask for the card.

This is a really strange attitude by the SBI people at your branch, no wonder SBI's service image is still suspect to most young people.

i had a salary a/c in hdfc bank which i opened in feb 2008 but i left the job in 1 april 2008, so the a/c was converted to regular savings but bal in it is NIL from apr 2008.

the account is still active as i have netbanking and netsafe card facility active but i havent maintained AQB of 10k till date, hdfc deducts rs.750 per qtr for non maintainig aqb, now i wish to deposit say rs.15k in that a/c, then will hdfc bank take penalty from me for non maintaining aqb for so long period, plz let me know details on this.

i emailed hdfc support many times & always i get a same crappy response that maintain aqb of 10k.

plz help.

^ I think they will deduct the QAB Charges once you deposit the money. ICICI recovers all the pending fees and dues once the funds are available in your account.
