pretty decent phone in my opinion, has its quirks but generally its poor apps like swiggy etc which hog battery.
yes its summer, there's a heatwave on so temps are obviously going to be off the charts..

why did google stop using snapdragon in pixels?
its not like they need to make huge profits like apple selling these phones.

Allows them more control on the chipset to implement custom hardware and instructions that drive their image processing and speech/text processing algos. Snapdragon as the base doesn't give them that hardware level access for better integration with software. Hardware designed to complement the software is where most of the gains are to be made as Apple has shown.

pixel 6a is available for 28k in fk.
after the card discount (1k) and exchange offer.
its coming out at around 21k.
is it worth it at that price?
i currently have mi a3.
my usage include browsing, watching videos and similar light usage , camera is not that much important to me.
not a heavy user, dont play games.
i heard tensor tends to heat up a lot.
any other things i should be aware of?
any other better alternatives in this price range?

I got it for almost the same price last year Diwali. If you want a small relatively good looking phone, with a great camera and haptics in that price, this is it. If camera isn't important to you, there might be more options that are faster with better faster refresh rate screens and more battery. But then that's for you to decide isn't it?

PS: The heat up issue isn't as bad as some people make out to be. Especially if your usage is going to be on the lighter side. But I can't say that Tensor is the most energy efficient chip so except some battery sacrifice and heat with this phone. But the camera makes it all worth it.

PPS: The updates on this phone are unmatched. I've never had a phone that gets this much attention and care every month. For example, issues with the FP sensor that made every reviewer knock this phone a bit have been completely resolved over these 6 months of regular updates.

If you want more convincing, I really suggest you watch JuanBagnell's (@SomeGadgetGuy) review and rants on this phone on YT. Entertaining and informative.

This is one of the reasons why people get pixels, based on your other usage you've mentioned I would recommend a Samsung phone with Snapdragon processor (S20 FE maybe or other A/M series?).

My brother got Pixel 6a yesterday after exchanging a Redmi 5A, it does heat-up a lot, at least while charging and initial setup it does, can't say much since it's been only 1 day since he got it.

This phone is a pos. It doesn't even connect to mobile network and if it connects it disconnects frequently. It is a half baked shitty device imo. It always shows very low 4g signal and can't even get 10-15KBps speed when connected to the network. This was happening from days and no matter what I did there was no improvement in the connection. So I got fed up and put the sim card in old phone which has only 4g in it and it shows almost 3/4 to full 4g signal and data speed was in 3-4 MBps. Imagine, a 6 year old phone is better than this shit.
I bought this in February this year. How much will i get if i try to sell it now? Made a mistake buying this horrible phone. I'll never buy a Pixel device or anything Google makes. And yes, I'm using hotspot from old phone to post now. What a bother this pixel phone is. (ノ`Д´)ノ彡┻━┻

it is infact a pos.. the camera doesnt even take a video for more than 1.5 minutes.. it overheats and stops recording lmao!

I tried sending feedback and the page stopped responding. They are actively trying to stop people from posting about network problem of the phone. Hitting the post button and it was still working (that circular animation) after 20 minutes. Lol.

I am planning to get the S22+ at 50K, and get discount value on exchange (12K)... considering that I bought it for 28K, seems like a massive L but lesson learnt, never buy google phones in india

Oneplus has a offer on exchange right now.. they will buy back ur phone for 22k against a OP11

OnePlus phones come nowhere close to Samsung S series, especially in camera performance
That maybe the case.. but im never buying a samsung phone untill they can actually fix there slow charging.. Heating issues and bad battery life. Maybe S23 is better.. but im not willing to take any chances especially after being burnt on S8 S9 and S22.

The S series literally has the worst track record of any phones.

If you have a pixel device you are probably used to charging overnight, so should not be a problem. 8gen1 does have some heating issues but it should not be as bad as tensor. Honestly I am not sure. I am thinking of taking a chance on it

6a seems like a mixed bag, it seems. Most of the videos on YT says after A13 update, their issues have been resolved. Add to the reviewers cooler weather, so they don't experience heating issues. I guess the SoC is behaving differently given the hot weather here, hence massive throttling, this sub par performance.
I am assuming that they are using this as a stog gap arrangement and designing their own SoC. Else this will remain a strictly "western hemisphere only" phone.

GeekyRanjit has nailed it about who should and should not buy these phones
