Now, 11 out of 10 people here will agree with me that if you had gotten hold of a 0515 or 0517 chip, you would have by now casually pumped in 1.75V, tweaked the Hell out of it, and managed to clock it to 3.5G with a pair of Generic Transcend/Hynix RAM :clap: !

I swear that I got the courage to pump in juice into my CPU after I saw your fanatastic efforts with Winnie 3200+, clocking it to 2.8G. And oc-ing those Winnie 3200+s were lot harder than the Venices - Nikhil and I would know bcoz we are still hovering around 2.65G :P !

I agree with this , IF Darky had a 15th or 17th week Venice on his DFI
dont know what wud have he maxxed at and there wud have been a power
shortage in Pune.

Its just that u have to keep looking for the new week Venice/SD and its OC
potentials if i do come to know of will SMS u asap.

No Rocky ! I'm pretty sure Darky has tweaked as much as he could with that Venice. Remember he got 2.8G with a Winnie/Transcend on an SLI setup which aint easy. So, he knows exactly what he is doing.

It's just that his Venice 3200+ is not cooperating.

Well on a Hunch i inserted that on the DFI m/b and i got this Result. at 3.1V Vdimm

Encouraged by this i started o/cing the rig.

First tried 9:10 (mem : Cpu) Clock Divider @ 300 HTT.

it passed all the simple tests and benchies. so i started pushing it ......and finally got this 310 HTT x 9

infact it boots to Windows @ 312 x 9.
Right now as i type this i am trying out various 3dmark tests and prime95 etc...@ 308 x 9.


This is the highest clock speed i have achieved on my m/c to date. All my previous screenies of all the tests were at max 295 HTT.
i had also given up on my cpu as it is the same stepping as masky's. 0516 cpbw. but a fresh approach opened new avenues.

Currently The m/c boots into memtest and passes all the tests @ 315 HTT. but it does not boot into windows over 312 HTT. perhaps i am using SATA Raid 0 could be an issue. not sure , but as soon as i get hold of an ide drive i will try that. but atleast i went up from 295~ 300 HTT to 312 ~ 315 HTT.
So you see darky forget that rubbing of salt bit and get ur ass back on Saddle. Try a different cpu, psu , shift position of ur m/c etc ...

As i had mentioned previously i was just provisionally trying to determine the max HTT of the cpu using the new GEIL Rams. so Voltage upto 1.8V for a short duration is also not an issue. however once you get some idea about the different HTT's at Different voltage levels try to find the optimum sweet spot by reducing the HTT's and Voltages.

For e.g. i got the voltages down to 1.7V @ 310 HTT. and will try to get it further down to 1.66 ~ 1.68 levels. below that my cpu would not boot even.:D
But do take care of the temps too. keep the temps to around 38~42C @ idle and below 52 ~ 55 on very heavy load (like priority 10 of prime95)
I have no hangups about keping my venice @ 1.6V ~ 1.64V. as long as my temps do not exceed 48C ~ 52C on heavy loads (which in my case usually consists of benchies and games like battlefield and farcry etc ...) . since i am not going to use this cpu for more than 2 years anyways, so any electron migration issues does not bother me. and neither am i running any mission critical applications so absolute stability is not a big deal with me. (like running prime95 for days.... )

as long as i do not get a BSOD due to hardware fault i am ok.
Currently finding the max lowest latency speed.......

260 at 1.5-2-2-5 !!!

But in the first screenie, I can;t make out anything apart from the SuperPi time.....

I tried pushing it a bit further, succeeded in doing this,
It did 264 with SuperPi 1M test passed but interestingly it failed to bench in Everest and Sandra :P
