Graphic Cards R600 News Thread

Atleast i did not have any doubt regarding R600 being better.
I just hope they put out GDDR4 version from the start. If they rush DDR3 version in jan only as speculated i will wait for GDDR4 to come out and get that one.
For now its looking good. :)
Getting cards here will be as usual problematic.

Q1 '07 will be interesting, with the R600 and G80 refresh launch. It would be wise to wait for them all to release and pick the best, although the best will come at a premium cost.

Ofcourse R600 will be better than a G80. After all G80 is the 1 st DX10 gfx card made by nvidia. On the other hand ATI already has had experience developing a dx10 gfx card for xbox360.But the problem here in india is that ati cards are very expensive and difficult to get.

BTW, when can we expect to see them in india and for how much( an estimate)?

That "review" seems to be fake, probably another Sander Sassen case here

Yup, it would be wiser to wait for benchmark scores from a reputed site then speculate on this..

Moreover the site owners have already revealed their affiliation to ATi which puts another block in swallowin those scores blindly.. If nothin else, those scores would make another prospective 8800 buyer think again to wait for the R600!:)

:) Till some trustworthy sites put in some reviews..it is hard to tell...will be fun though if it is true...

A few poor boys will again get poorer then:bleh: :bleh:

Come to think about it... Even NV is working on its Drivers... and lead it has had will prove a "PLUS". But then NOT to shy away from da fact that its just Amazing Chip... this R600 ATI [Now AMD] has been working on. Good that even I was left wid no Moni.. hence No G80 :p

EDIT: Level 505, has 2 AMD employees [Dailytech confirmed] :D No doubt they are so early to get R600 out!!

it's looking more like Nvidia is going to be to the market first with an 80 nanometre version of the G80 graphics chip, rather than ATI's 720 million transistor monster.

The last revision of the prototype chip - upon which a certain "pre-review" is based - also suffers from problems which are serious enough to get another re-spin, sources tell me. This re-spin puts a hold on the launch for another couple of weeks, and now R600 is looking like an early March launch, probably the week before SnowBIT in Hangover. However, AMD/ATI is making severe changes to the whole line up and we can say that this launch, when it happens, will be very, very shocking for the 3D industry.

I am not talking about pseudo-penismarks here.

We learned about the performance and feature characteristics and they're looking pretty impressive in more than one way, although you can expect that Dr. Spinola's engine is getting into defensive mode, saying people "don't understand what the R600 is".

However, engineer teams are working around the clock to make this launch as good as possible.

One small note on the tech demos. Prepare for your mandibles to drop, because Adrienne should look like a high-school attempt at 3D graphics compared to ATI's thing.

AMD's R600 to suffer another delay

The latest AMD ATI roadmaps reveal details of more DirectX 10 graphics cards

DailyTech has just finished its briefing on the upcoming AMD ATI Radeon launches. The company has three major launches over the next few months: codenamed R600, R610 and R630.

The R600, ATI's ultra-high-end Radeon X1950 successor, has a production date scheduled for February 2007. The card will launch at or around the Cebit 2007 convention in mid-March. Shipments will follow shortly after.

Our latest roadmaps indicate R600 will support unified shaders and GDDR4 or GDDR3 memory. GDDR3 versions of the card running revision "A12" silicon appear to be making rounds in the blogsphere, and select press can even take a sneak peak of the card under embargo here at CES. The final silicon for R600 will be "A13."

A GDDR4 version of the card will be the flagship launch product. Clock frequencies on any R600 card have not been set officially yet, and will not appear on marketing material until just a few weeks before the launch.

The company has also added the R610 and R630 GPUs to the roadmap. In the past, ATI has used lower number codenames to denote entry-level products. We would suspect R610 would be the entry-level R600 cutdown, and R630 would be the mid-range chipset. The Radeon roadmap puts both of these products on the shelf before June 2007.

All R600-series GPUs from ATI are compatible with DirectX 10.

^^Dude u nuts. First of all i think R600 has two 6 pin inputs anyway not the 8 pin one. And anyway same way u can hook up the current 6 pin connector to two molex connectors using a converter same way a converter will also be available for the 8 pin one(not that i think ati/nividia are gonna use this until the next gen maybe)

*sigh* another paper launch... :|

New ATi R600 Details Appear

AMD remains secretive about their R600 but we still managed to dig out a little more information. We can expect to see R600, RV610 and RV630 demos @ CeBIT but no performance tests to be revealed there. The R600 launch is slated for end of March it appears now and there are 3 SKUs; XTX, XT and XL. ATi briefly mentioned to their partners a 2nd generation Unified Shader Structure and a new hardware Crossfire for R600 family which can be bridgeless yet faster. We are not sure how does this new HW CF work out yet. The retail card is half an inch longer at 9.5" and the OEM/SI version remains the same at 12". It comes with 512-bit memory bus and 1GB DDR4 at more than 2GHz frequency. Core clock remains a mystery as yet.
