CPU/Mobo Raspberry Pi queries

I hope you guys know there is a compatible SD card which you need to use with pi else it may not work and this Evo is not in supported list and why do you need 32 gb
The "compatible" SD card list is not from the manufacturer but is a wiki built by users who have tested xyz card to run fine. The Evo Plus (128GB) is mentioned there. The minimum size for the Evo plus is 32GB.

2)should I use pen drive with it or memory card?. I'm using pen drive with my ddwrt setup right now and it's working great for past 2 years.
Why you guys post about using it with memory card only?.
The RasPi boots off the microSD only. There is a workaround to have a tiny SD card with the bootloader alone, and edit cmdline.txt to redirect it to your USB stick : https://samhobbs.co.uk/2013/10/speed-up-your-pi-by-booting-to-a-usb-flash-drive
Performance wise the USB stick could be faster, but you will always need an SD card.

I am using mine (v1 b+) as media home - Kodi (from the Openelec image).
Controlling it with the TV remote, immediate Cover & Subs download for movie/tvseries files, video apps - TED, YouTube etc - it's more than I expected. :)

btw, how can I have the actual the current time?
Providing some time server? Like?

Got my raspberry delivered today.
Packaging was bad, bubble warps and plastic covering.
There was no air in bubble warps, it was almost flat, with no air.

Now I need to order a memory card, can you guys recommend 32gb card, class 10 preferably.

Raspbian Jessie is here - Raspberry Pi
The Raspbian OS got an update today
There are modifications to the underlying system to improve performance and flexibility, particularly as regards the control of system processes, and as with any update, there are numerous bug fixes and tweaks. And at the same time as the upgrade to Jessie, we’ve added a bunch of changes and improvements to the desktop user interface.

Look and feel
The first thing anyone starting the new Jessie image from scratch will notice is that the default behaviour is to boot straight to the desktop GUI, not to the Linux command line.
The image is 4.3 GB

Should I buy the SanDisk 32gb class 10 card?, it going to be on deal tomorrow.
If you can, get the Samsung Class 6 card.
The Raspberry store sells a card loaded with Noobs. They use this card only. It may be rated as class 6 bus read/write speeds are 10+.
I have the 32GB version of this card.

Just putting it here since we aren't allowed to discuss in the deals thread [emoji14]

Guys, am getting an original Sony CP-AD2 charger from Ebay after HDFCSEPT11 coupon @ Rs. 600 shipped.

http://www.ebay.in/itm/New-Original...-Best-Price-/131610346334?hash=item1ea496835e

Says original with 1-year manufacturer warranty.

Should I go for it? or will there be a cheaper Lightening Deal than 600 bucks? I read here that the Sony CP-AD2 keeps coming in LD.

For now, I am in no rush.

In fact, I was actually thinking of getting a 2.5A charger compared to the Sony 2.1A.

Edit: Not interested in taking risk with Paytm offer.

Any suggestions?

It has been linked earlier 1/2 pages back but still https://paytm.com/shop/p/sony-cp-ad2-usb-ac-adaptor-SONY_CPAD2_240V_NULL_37449
best damn charger

Dont pay more than 375/ Keeps on coming on sale here . If you are in hurry then.....

^Even I recommend the same charger.
Do you guys have this charger?
I have the version of this charger which comes with a 90cm cable. Using this charger, I am unable to mount my Seagate 2.5" ext HDD(Seagate expansion portable). When I use it with a powered USB hub, I am able to mount it with my Pi.

the cable is extra long , reduces the 2A output also . I am using another cable , my Lg cable with sony charger

Yes. I knew that resistivity increases with cable length. I don't have any other cable right now. Will have to get it from somewhere!

You are saying that you can mount your ext HDD when you use your RPi 2 with your CP-AD2 charger. Correct?

Was going to order Evo 32gb card, but read last posts about it not being compatible with pi.

I'm going with headless setup as I don't have hdmi monitor.
Please post guide that you guys followed.

I have used a headless setup of the Pi with Berryboot. See http://www.berryterminal.com/doku.php/berryboot/headless_installation. Works nicely. I use Berryboot instead of NOOBS since I have multiboot on the Pi and needed HDMI CEC at boot time itself.

I also have this HDMI to VGA converter http://www.ebay.in/itm/HDMI-to-VGA-...lt-Chip-Cable-for-HDTV-Monitor-/261516648036? but am yet to test it with the Pi. Will post back in a bit if it works or not. The key is to look for active HDMI to VGA converters rather than passive. Apparently the one I linked to has a chip in it that does the conversion but will have to test and see.

This https://www.crazypi.com/raspberry-pi-products/Raspberry-Pi-Accessories/RASPBERRY-PI-HDMI-TO-VGA0 is a pricier HDMI to VGA converter that is guaranteed to work with the Pi.

Did you read carefully? Where does it say the Evo plus cards are not compatible? Read the posts again.

I bought the Samsung 32 gb Evo+ card as it was BETTER AND CHEAPER than the Sandisk one. The Sandisk deal was actually a joke when compared to Samsung, if you look carefully.
