August Mordem Underground
Murder Set Pieces

I am going to be the odd one out here!

Duck Soup (1933) - 4.5/10

Why the hell is it in IMDB Top 250? Otherwise I'd not have watched it

The following are all silent movies

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920, German Expressionist Silent film, 1996 restored version) - 7/10

Probably the first film to use twist in the climax. Also uses flash back. Weird sets with disproportionate elements give it an eerie feel. Doors are like trapezoids instead of rectangle, for example.

Sherlock Jr. (1928) - 8/10

Concepts like movie within a movie. A great sequence where Buster Keaton's 'dream-half' steps into the movie and scenery around him changes very rapidly. Lots of physical comedy as well. Running time is only 45 mins.

The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) - 8.5/10

Don't think this is for everybody. Lots of tight and extreme close-ups, Maria Falconetti's eyes play the all important role here - gaze, tears, stare, confused look - everything. Unless someone is like me and wants to do a little detour of film history, stick with 2011 films than 1911 films :P
