Twisters (2024) - 6/10

Decent enough movie which stays true to the core element and does bring back memories from the OG movie Twister (1996). The original was such a hit in the 90's and will forever remain one of my favorite movies to watch on a HT setup. I still recollect how excited I was to try my Twister VCD in early 2001 on my old Sony music system which played VCDs and had this amazeballs Cinema Mode which at that time made my socks blow off with it's BIG sound!

Was a sequel to Twister needed though? I say not really but oh well...

Deadpool X Wolverine: 8/10

Hadn't seen any MCU movies after the disappointment that was Multiverse of Madness (on a related note, Pattinson's Batman was *chefs kiss*), and didn't have high hopes for this movie either - although I was secretly hoping I would be proven wrong. Went to see it for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine only, and was pleasantly surprised by the movie as whole! Very refreshing and welcome change for someone who used to be a diehard MCU fanboy (caught Endgame and Infinity War on the first day, even though the shows were around 11PM for both) but has been largely disappointed by films after No Way Home (still can't believe Love and Thunder was a real film; it felt like someone wrote a parody or satire using all the worst aspects of MCU films from 2nd half of phase 3 onwards). In fact, I largely ditched MCU after MoM and haven't seen a single piece of MCU media since.

Anyway, highly recommend watching the first 2 Deadpool movies to get a feel for the character as DP is probably the best thing to happen to superhero movies in a long time haha. Also, saw a clip of the Bhojpuri version somewhere online and I really need to see it. I saw Endgame with Bhojpuri dub back in the pandemic and it was the most fun I've had rewatching any movie XD

Maharaj: 6.5/10

Surprised how relatable many behaviors portrayed as being from the second half of 1850s are felt even today. "Bhakts," skip this one. Everyone else - please watch! Worth it just for gaining knowledge/an understanding of our past.

Kill: Caught my eyes as I was checking RT website. Had praise and high rating. But didn't like it really. Not sure what all the praises were about. Plot is kinda meh. Acting is meh-er (the female was most annoying, however the villains were rather great). And for Indian intellectual audience it could well be meh-ist. Making a Hindi film with this much violence is not good.

5/10

Stree 2 : Now they are just milking the franchise. Not a patch on the original. Stretched like a rubber band. Apart from a few one liners, the comedy is not comedic. 5/10.

Watched Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga over the weekend. It's a good watch, it does feel repetitive after the first two chapters, but the ending was very satisfying. Chris Hemsworth is magnificent as Dementus. He's a decent actor when writing is not entirely comicbook/Marvel style. 7/10

But this made me nostalgic about the Fury Road even though it has not been so long. Watched it again last night, and oh boy, what a wonderful movie! Not a second or a frame is wasted. Grips you from the first shot to the end credits. Watching it after Furiosa makes it a great two-part story and you forget that Mad Max is the OG hero. Furiosa takes the centre stage and absolutely steals the show. This is how you create a great female action hero, unlike Marvel or other Disney ventures which always feels forceful and artificial.

I can't rave about the cinematography and sound enough. I don't think my first view did it justice, but the second time, I now have an Atmos HT and 12" subwoofer, so the sound was almost overwhelming. Even better than the latest Furiosa prequel. Best sound effects among all movies I've watched so far. It has to be enjoyed with your seats shaking with a thumping bass to believe it.
9/10

Exhuma: 5.5/10.

Decent watch, but nothing great. The first half was very good, second half went a different direction and it felt little underwhelming.
That said, the background score and visuals were excellent, perfectly capturing the horror elements they aimed to portray.
Overall, nothing scary though.

Recently saw this, maybe because there was some hype.. 5/10 or even lower honestly.

Glass (2019) 9/10
Beast of a movie. I had seen split before it didn't know about its prequel called unbreakable. So you can say I watched it in wrong order lol. Still enjoyed it and James Mcvoy is a great actor imo.
Something to know before watching: Its the third and final installment in the trilogy (unofficially) known as Eastrail 177 trilogy. So if you are going to watch this you need to watch the previous 2 films as well.

Alien Romulus : 7/10.

So I don't know if its my theatre (PVR IMAX Logix, Noida) or PVR in general, but the print quality wasn't great. It felt as if a 720p print has been forcefully put on Imax screen. Edges were blurry, except things which are in close up. As if someone left the focus "just" before perfect. Very very weird. Whole time my mind was hunting for focus vs concentrating on the movie.
Need to go see in other theatre.
