Rate the Last Movie You Saw...

Ok challenge accepted...will let you know if I cried :p
Please do. Just make sure you are not in a public area when watching it.
I read the spoilers and now I'm angry, not gonna watch it only to get even more depressed.
The three emotions from watching this movie would be Depressed, sad and angry. I still recommend watching it once tho but only if you are alone so you can sob in peace.

Sathyam Sundaram (2024): 8/10

Feel good movie, there are some very emotional moments. Liked it so much.
There are a few boring scenes here and there though.
Karthi is such a great actor, he just vanished into the character.

The Vanishing (1988 film): 8/10

Must have been great to see back in those years. I watched a lot late I guess, but still liked the movie.
Cinematography is good, I liked the framing especially.

^I heard about this movie after watching

Then I watched it and it's definitely more scary than the more recent one.

Whose premise starts of the same but with different plot.

Can't say I want to watch either again. Once was enough.

Didn't see the 2022 movie, but watching the old one a decade ago or more, would have felt scarier.
Now that we have seen many psychopath movies, this doesn't scare me enough, but disturbing for sure.
Meanwhile movies like The Shining, Requiem for a Dream, Insidious etc. disturbed me a lot. I had nightmares.

Maybe for you. I found the dutch movie is definitely more disturbing. I don't think Butler was going for scary more thriller suspense which I prefer much more.

I've wanted to watch Shining for a while for Jack Nicholson. Last time i watched it long ago it wasn't so scary.

We used to say the 'Here's Johnny' line a lot at college so it kind of lost its shock value. Always fun when people got the reference.

I was partly distracted by the beautiful female lead of the movie.

I watched the shining alone late at midnight, that probably has the effect. Same goes for Insidious.
Too bad we don't get such movies nowadays.

Gladiator II 6.5/10

It's not a bad movie on its own, but it is a sequel to a great movie, so can't help but compare and it pales in comparison.

Makes you realise how good Crowe was without doing anything too flashy. His pain and his mannerisms were so well acted and natural. (Yeah, I watched the first part the previous night to get back in the story and not miss any callbacks)

This one does the action well. The supporting cast is good enough. Denzel eats up every scene he is in. Pedro Pascal does a serviceable job. He looks the Roman part, has the perfect Latin looks. The lead is not bad, has good acting chops and a commanding voice. Just missed the charisma of Crowe's Maximus Decimus Meridius.

Maybe I am biased but the first few scenes with the emperor in the first film established all characters so well, the ageing and weary Emperor, the war tired and homesick General, the over eager and power coveting Commodus. And it feels rushed in the sequel. Characters don't have the same breadth. There are also some plot holes and creative liberties that dent the screenplay. But overall, I don't think it is a bad movie, just not a great one. One time watch.
