Yup pretty sure about it, when exactly did your brother get it?,
Because during the launch event they said it will be applicable for those who purchase a s4 on Saturday 12-4, but the Samsung e store listed the offer for first 500 customers who purchase the s4, don't know which one of them is correct,
Let me check up if I can find a link.

Also I have a question, how is the screen on it compared to the iPhone? Is it as good or even better?
He got it from the Samsung Cafe on Saturday at around 1 in the afternoon. He was among the first ones to buy it from that shop!

Umm, depends i guess. I found the Iphone 5 screen to be great but at 4 inches size, i never got that wow reaction. The Samsung on the other hand...Damn!

Overall though, according to Displaymate, theoretically the iphone 5 is better...

My brother got this phone over the weekend. Here's my impressions:

  • The screen is magnificent
  • No lag noticed in regular usage. Super responsive.
  • Voice commands actually work
  • The camera is quite good. Took a photo of my niece with the Beauty Shot setting..her pimples vanished in the photo!
  • Loudspeaker isn't that loud.
  • Charges superfast. Something to do with a 2A charger.
  • WIFI performance is a little iffy. Might have something to do with my D-link router. Apparently, the S3 also had a problem with D-link Wifi routers.
  • He is planning to get the S-view case when it launches.
Any other questions? Fire away.

Questions:

- Are you actually using all those gimmicky features?
- Hows one handed usage?
- Is the phone too tall yet too thin (skewed ratio)

Yes the covers are there cause I myself did put the smart cover on the device.

#comp@ddict Regarding the device:
1. You will end up using some of the gimmicy features and most of the camera features.
2. One handed usage is great. It just fits fine in one hand and you can reach the top corner opposite to thumb easily. Lets just put it any bigger(as in note 2) would have been an overkill. The screen size is just about perfect.
3. Nops its not iPhone 5. The ratio is good and so is the weight. With a case the device feels good in the hand. Its lighter then the S3 and is a very pocketable device. I use my iPhone 4 with an arm band while jogging. This might not be suited for that kind of usage otherwise it doesn't look funny at all when held along side the ear for making calls.

Thanks for answering. Want to make the perfect decision this time. Hence so many questions and such a huge debate at the other thread. Last time messed up with the Xperia Sola.

Thats why I said some. I liked how you can hover on a video with your finger to see whats coming up while the video is playing. That is a feature which we mostly use on our comps while watching you tube videos. This also works well with the messages and emails. The camera features are awesome though. You wont need any third party app from the play store. Also the S-View cover makes a lot of sense.

I could never really get SIRI to understand me -_-

Same here. So i never use SIRI, useless for me on my phone.[DOUBLEPOST=1367223144][/DOUBLEPOST]The S-View cover i believe is not really a novelty. Although it might be using magnets or something, not sure but i remember my friend had an iPhone 3GS, it was like 3+ years back i think and he had a cover with opening on top (for number/time) and bottom for "slide to answer".

Should have watched the TBBT episode featuring Siri. That was funny how it could understand the Indian Accent but not American. TBH you just need to be "more english" with Siri.

In my experience, Google voice search is 100 times better than siri in understanding the spoken words in our normal accents. SIRI was in the first place never made for Indian accent so if one tries faking an American accent then siri might understand.
Anyways for me, even if siri understood everything i said, i would probably never had used it.

Thats not the S View Cover. It just has one window and that too with a plastic glass. The phone works through that glass window and whenever there is a call the display shifts to that window when the phone is closed and comes full screen if you flip open the cover. Let me search a YT video to explain.

I completely got what you said. I am just saying that a very much stripped down version without the glass and display shifting to the view part with normal cuttings was available. May be comparison with S-View was wrong but the types of cover i am mentioning are i believe available currently as i have seen lot of S3/Note 2 users in my office having those covers having horizontal cut outs at top and bottom.

Some gestures like move your hands across the phone to answer it and route the call to loudspeaker while driving are really useful. The other gimmicky features are alright i guess. They don't get in the way and if you're getting them without paying extra then it's ok i guess.

One handed usage was quite decent. I'm currently using an HTC One X so this felt similar.

The ratio was just right. Doesn't feel too light.

My suggestion would be you better go to a Samsung Cafe or Univercell or Croma etc. and use the phone for a good 15-20 minutes before deciding...

Some people are saying there is a slight lag here and there while opening apps and dialer contacts, any comments on that?

Does Touchwiz feel smooth to use?

I tried my hands on SGS4 yesterday. I did not feel any lag or whatsoever. Touchwiz has improved a lot.

Oh, good to see Samsung has been working hard to improve Touchwiz
Well, I am not sure but they have done well in Touchwiz thing so far. I am using and tweaking Touchwiz framework for quite a long time. I can easily see they are adopting community made tweaks in their framework. Which is a good thing. :-)
