Samsung S23 or A55 ?

Northstar
Which to get?

Or

Both S23 (8GB+256) & A55 (8GB+256) for 43k

For 3k more you can get the A55 with12GB+256

Both will get four OS upgrades but the A55 starts at 14 whereas the S23 launched with 13

The A55's battery will beat galaxy S+ (let alone S) models for half the price if you accept a slightly less capable camera.

Did I mention the A55 comes with a microSD slot.

It's possible the A55's price will reduce further but the S23 might not be available later.

I'm also wondering whether the FK S23 offer can be trusted as Amazon can't match it for much more?

And Samsung wants 70k on their site for the same specs S23

It's a confusing topic.

I'm amazed to learn the latest iPhones are still on usb 2 and its only the Pro series that gets the usb3.2 interface.
thats Apple for you, nothing surprising there
Fun trivia point. None of the iPhones charge faster than 25W and i don't think this is a bad thing.

Fortunately Samsung does not do this kind of downgrading with its base S models. The speed IIANM is 5Gbps out the 3.2 port
eh? fast charging/battery tech has come a long way now, I used to be firmly in the camp of slow charging but not anymore after my Edge 30 Fusion, its been 2 years since I bought the phone and I havent noticed any battery issues aside from regular wear & tear. I only take basic precautions like making sure the phone is not exposed to direct sunlight for a long time, battery doesnt go below 30% etc etc, and its help up fine so far, and I have been using a 68W fast charger with it. the convenience of having your phone fully charged in 30 minutes beats any possible wear & tear due to fast charging a non-issue.

And unless its Apple making a sucker out of you, a battery replacement is helluva cheap compared to the price of the phone, for e.g. S23 battery cost is 2.1K, S23U battery cost is 2.4K, edge 30 fusion battery cost is 3.5K, pretty negligible compared to what we paid for the phone, and even more considering even if you abuse the phone's battery, it'll easily last you a couple of years.
Bhai, 40 degrees is okay. 50-60 degrees is high temp. I am using wireless charging which generates even more heat. After a year, my phone battery max capacity is at 92% with 263 cycle count.
iPhones are known to report incorrect battery health, I wouldnt rely on that if I were you

Since he's elderly. I find this calculator to be more legible than any other in the store. And this app is over a decade old.
Done updating to the latest OS. So far good. Removed other unwanted default apps.
The Calculator app suggested by you is good, hence installed and taught him to use it.

We purchased CMF by nothing 65w charger last year to charge along side other devices. Not able to get the tech details like power usage, but so far its good. I had paired it with Ambrane USB C cable and another USB C one which I got from Amazon.com. There is another USB A to micro USB cable from Portronics which is used for other devices like Saregama music player.

Trying to open the sim tray of this S23 following the user guide and nothing. Poking the right hole mind you.
Sim tray open.png

^No way its coming out this way. What the hell to do?

Wasn't poking it right. Worked first time doing it his way

IP68 so its got to be tight with a rubber gasket to keep the water out.

May be it's time for manufacturers to adopt e-sim and drop the physical sim support?
It's very easy for those unaware to insert the pin right of the tray and damage the microphone. Though the comments suggest the microphone is offset so this won't happen. My previous phone had a removable battery so sim and sd card slid into slots. Very easy and safe.

The S23 has eSim too. Don't know how to use it.

Refer to your carrier's site.

Getting fingerprint detection to work with a tpg on is a matter of how you register the fingerprints.

Deregister any fingerprints if you have registered any. Apply tpg and then reregister. I only did thumbs. Make sure to press a little when registering and same with unlocking and it works quite well.

Notice how the first thumb is registered till it reaches 40%. This will be the Thumb you use most often to unlock. Then he uses the other thumb until it gets to 70%. Back to the first until 90% and finally with other to complete.

Using the method shown in this video with this caseology tpg and it's working just fine.

And I haven't needed to increase screen sensitivity either

Once biometrics are done you can use Samsung pass for logins with your fingerprint.

Thinner is supposed to work better but glass has the oleophobic layer. I'd rather have glass.

The amfilm should be fine. It's often recommended by reviewers and is the protector reviewed in the linked video above. But it's Chinese.

Caseology is part of spigen and Korean.

Will this be better wrt fingerprint detection? Else was considering amfilm glass
any is fine imo, I had to get a cheap 100rs one because all the vendors in my local area refused to apply my Spigen, and even that worked fine, though glancing touches missed like 20-30% of the time.

I avoided the spigen because reviews said it was too thin and cracked on its own.

The caseology seemed to review better and since you get two for the price thought it was ok.

How did you find the difference between the cheap 100 and the spigen?
Also if anyone is in need of a good cheap case this one is great.
TPU on the sides will yellow in a few months. That's why they offer a black sides option. Corner protection is also minimal.

Ones I would recommend for transparent are this Glaslux or Ringke. That Glaslux is as good as anything UAG makes for its Ice series which is unavailable for S23 in India or I'd have sprung for it

Case choice is very personal with people either wanting minimal thickness to preserve the compactness or like me take advantage of the less weight to get decent protection.

Another point is whether the case has rounded edges. More comfortable but prone to slipping if case material is not grippy. Or more blocky which is default better grip if a little less comfortable though i don't find it so.

There are many decent generic options available. I've avoided spigen here as i don't find their cases grippy. Instead preferring either generic or other branded. Not too much choice here which is surprising compared to say the S23U.

One I'm using currently is this one. For S23 it only comes in one colour which is a pity. The plastic doesn't feel like the usual PVC but has softer velvety touch. The ring at the back doubles as a stand or you can put your finger through it for a more secure grip outdoors or whenever.

I'll post about others later.

I didnt really check out many brands, I just went to reddit and the S23/samsung threads, and peeps were using Spigen, so I splurged on the 2 pack for 1700, kinda regret it since no vendors would apply it, and I would have to do it myself.

I havent really compared it to the cheaper one, the phone is all packed up and will be given to my relative next month since my father didnt really like it. I'll let you know how it compares once they do get around to applying it.

Doesn't the Spigen glass come with the tray for installation? The current listing shows it:

I might go for this if I buy glass:

Has 2x glass for 750, has tray but has a U notch.

Considering this case: https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B0BJRJX8Z4

yeah but my dexterity is in negative lol, I dont really like to fiddle with stuff like this when I can pay 20-30rs to a professional who can do it without any issues, lesser headache for me.

Btw, dont spring for spigen covers, they are horribly overpriced, check out Kapaver if you want to, been using their covers for almost a decade now and they are golden, specially their hybrid covers, they dont get that muddy cigarette smoke yellow look that cheaper covers get, and their protection is top notch too,

I got this one for 470 a couple weeks ago https://kapaver.com/products/samsung-galaxy-s23-5g-back-cover-case-foso-wings-shock-proof-clear and it works perfectly. my WTS thread was deleted but i still share you some pictures if you want

yeah, this is why I didnt spring for it, I hate that notch, Edge-to-Edge looks the best to me

I won't buy a transparent case, lost interest in those years ago for practicality. Spigen non-transparent cases for 1k have been good for me. I used a Spigen case on my S20FE for 2+ years, then part of the case above the power button broke. Replaced with another one which is fine.

For glass vs Gadgetshieldz screen protector, need to take a call. Other than amfilm, one option is 200-300 glass from a local store.
