Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

hi everyone... i got my wave yesterday evening...
its metallic balck & seems like all the vendors here in mumbai are having only black...
also haven't heard of wave's price anywhere in mumbai above Rs. 18,200/- I don't get the point of people been quoted the price above that...
btw i got mine for Rs. 17,200/- + 2% as i used my cc, i.e Rs. 17,544/-

and yes the firmware version is SDDJF1

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

I got it for 18100 rs from Forum mall, Bangalore and i had to pay more because i have covered my phone with insurance also which itself is some 600-700 rs so the price is more...

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

@ sujithbvm
i meant that the base price i got was not above Rs. 18,200/- & u got for 18100 which is perfectly fine as any samsung distributer, croma stores, etc quote 18200... i referred compareindia.in for the cheapest price & bought from the vendor listed there (though i got it personally).

btw can anyone suggest me a good screen guard or a full body guard for around Rs. 500/-

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

@surfer
Use the battery for about a week , if it still doesn't work well, get it replaced.

ya its normal.. i get around 2-3 days backup depending on usage. what have u set the screen brightness to? It took about a week for my wave to start giving its acclaimed backup :)

hmm... the screen brightness is the lowest we can set, it's 1... still 1 % of battery is drained for every 2 mins of heavy use i.e calls, games, camera... by this the whole battery will only last for 200 mins... :(

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

hey guys, i finally had a word with SAMSUNG TECH PEOPLE they tried their best to convince me that iam getting the right backup... but atlast they agreed to replace the battery after checking it... so i finally got a sol... i will wait for a couple of days more if it doesn't change i will go to the SVC and get my ph battery checked...

@soulmalidon and others...

my frnd told me that we shud charge the battery to FULL when we buy a new mobile since at that time time the BATTERY contains some chemicals, if we charge it, it will spread to each part or cell of the battery of ph... i read the same (charge completely before first use) in the SAMSUNG manual...

IS THIS TRUE...?

sorry for asking so many question and bothering all of you, iam a bit worried that's all

thanks for you patience and help...

GOD BLESS... :)

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

yes its true... battery conditioning is important. Charge and discharge cycles for a new battery are crucial (you need to repeat it atleast 6-8 times). Do not charge in between during discharge and Do not overcharge the battery :) hope it helps

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

thanks soumalidon...

just one last question... :)

what about the first charge... the salesgirl told me to first discharge the battery (the 30% that we get when we purchase a mobile) and then charge it to FULL, on the other hand i talked to the SAMSUNG TECH SUPPORT and few of my frnds, they all told me that the battery shud be charged to FULL after you have bought it as the FIRST charge is IMPORTANT...

now since i was told wrong stuff by that fat sales girl, i didn't charge my mob's battry complelety (the first charge, i discharged it completely and then charged it) will it affect the life of the battery backup of my ph's bttry?

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

no thats fine.. even i discharged it first then charged it completely... but as i said earlier its important that u dont charge during the discharge cycle. And dont listen to those sales ppl.. totally clueless.. once i asked for a 16GB card and they told me it doesn't exist.. i was like :O

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

even when i bought my wave, i was told nothing about charging or discharging the battery. but even after reading from the manual that we need to fully charge the phone before using it, i did used it to discharge first & then charged it fully after going through the posts here...
i have still only charged once till now. lets see hoe it works after a few cycles of charge-discharge...

ahh, thanks for the info... i have and will and only charge my phone once it shows the low battery sign, will that be fine?

and i agree too about the sales ppl, they are only concerned about selling stuff... can i abuse here to non-members lol, don't ban me for asking that... :)

i did the same, let's wait and watch what happens... hope that the battery we got will work for us or else we always have an option of getting it replaced as it has 6 months warrants... :)

GOD BLESS... :)

be sure that the maps are installed on the memory card and not on the phone's memory
