Ok now for a lengthy explanation--

BADA os does not stand before Android. Infact no os is comparable to Android , maybe symbian^3, but I will let you know about that in a months time when I get my N8. So quality of applications available for GS is much much better than Wave.

Both have exactly the same hardware inside, hummingbird chip with cortex A8 1 ghz 45nm cpu , 512 mb ram, 2gb rom , powervr sgx 540 gpu etc. No idea about the camera modules as nothing is written besides the camera part on both handsets like focal length, aperature etc. Need to do some searching on google regarding this part. Wave ofcourse have single power led flash which btw is the strongest single led setup I have experienced on a phone. GS does not have any. Both the cameras have been tuned differently in terms of image processing algorithms. 720P video recording is better on Wave as it records in MP4 container whereas GS does in 3GP container. Inshort, Camera-wise Wave is better as it has physical camera shutter key.

It all depends on you. Which OS you want to experience. If your a everyday user then save 10k and get Wave. OR GS then :)

That's where the problem lies for me :(. Unless I get to play around with both phones for atleast a week, I wouldn't know what I would be missing out on. For ex, if I choose wave, I wouldn't know what kind of a difference would android have made to my work or usage. And the same goes other way around, if I choose GS, I wouldn't know if Wave has all the stuff I need for 10k less :D. Sigh. Either way, have waited too long and won't break my head. If desire is available, will go with that, and today is the last day I will break my head reading reviews :p.
 
@Hellwrath - There you go. There is a very healthy debate on TD forum about Desire vs Galaxy S. I have owned Desire too , it is not worth comparing it to GS. If you want to get Android, then GS is the only choice. Dont know why people cant appreciate that Samsung can come with such gem of a handset. In my book, its an insult to even compare desire to GS !!

try disabling any anivirus or firewalls that you have... :)

and which country did you select during the setup?

i have selected UK at times of installation of KIES .. should i change it to somthing else ??
It says This device version cannot be updated.......

Serious SOS to all Wave owner :S

any of you know where the java games and apps are installed on the wave...

i couldn't find any icon or exe after installation:(

EDIT: found it in games and more...

Lol, as a matter of fact, I saw that thread only last evening. Though, a few personal attacks could have been avoided, but can't expect a mature crowd everytime :). Anyways, four reasons, why I wouldn't prefer GS over desire..

(i) The body. I mean, it's not about it feeling cheap or plasticky. I am scared to drop it. I know someone's phone (was it Kalpik?) survived a fall, I don't know if I'd get that lucky :).
(ii) TocuhWiz. This is again, not that big a deal breaker for me, as launchers can be installed. And TBH, I have no experience of the sense or the Touch Wiz, so I am kinda open to both, but I want no lags.
(iii) KIES/ODIN are not supported on a mac. I need KIES/ODIN only for firmware upgrades and I am in the process of running VM on my mac. Let's see
(iv) 4" screen is a tad too big for me. Honestly speaking, I am little tired of carrying around and managing bigger phones. Infact, I was thinking of legend only because of this reason.

OTOH, I went back to Univercell yesterday and took another look at the options available, man, legend was something I fell in love with. But anyways, I'd have made up my mind by tonight, so it should be good :).

It seems update to JF2 came for only JE7 phones.....
 
Nobody here to help me out :(? Hello, guys iam planning to buy samsung wave but at my place shops are quoting 18.5k, which i think its a bit high, at univercell.in its 17.3k is this site reliable? Has any 1 from this site bought from univercell? I am planing to buy next week. Also can anybody help me in buying and shipping it to me?

@sourcewop according to my knowledge dont go for univercell... wait for downfall of price in your area or search more u should get it lower thn 18k.. even i got 1 from mumbai for 17.8k this week ..

After tax Univercell you get for 18K. Try tradus.in and see. They are offering 17.3K all inclusive.

Try compareindia site (Compare India) I personally went to the Hello Zone Telecom as i wanted to get it myself & also use credit card for the same. I got it for 17200 + 2% for CC i.e. 17544/- Its all inclusive rate. Go for it.

Dear change the settings to India in ur Kies software. Then u'll b able to get the update.

Please note that I updated from JF1 to JF2 using Kies software. U'll get the update once u change the country/region to India in Kies software.

buddy i installed kies again selecting India as country and language as English but stil got same message ...

hey

everyone is recommending this phone in the mid-range.

its specs sound really good but i'm worried abt the apps availabilty/support for bada os. since this is a samsung only os i doubt it'll get the android/symbian/apple type variety of apps, right?

while i'm not into mods etc nor do i play around with apps too much its always good to know that there is a wide variety of free apps/games etc out there.

was wondering abt the variety/range/quality out there now and wat is expected in the future.

i'm especially interested in ebook readers. is there an app for that and how is it?

wat abt free gps maps? are they there?

how are the free games?

would love to get an opinion from the ppl who own it and have had/tried owned android and how it compares
 
@Hellwrath- Got your concerns. But my point of view is that if you want to experience any platform then get the best device on that one out there. GS is the best one out now..

I paid 17.5k for Wave on 7th july .. Dont know why you guys are paying much more .. Last heard it dropped to 16.8k ..

I agree, let's see :). I'll have an update tomorrow and 99.99%, it's going to be the SGS :).
 
@Hellwrath - Trust me get SGS , its just just awesome. Its kind of N95 of Samsung !! Their first true smartphone which is a worldwide superhit :)
