Samsung Wave S8500 India release

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

^^ Is the default browser bad? I saw at some place that the default wave browser is pretty good in terms of performance an beats both Android and iPhone browsers in performance.

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

SomaliDon, Yes its a difficult choice between the Galaxy and Wave given the huge price difference and comparable specs( except the 4" screen). Will wait some more time and decide.

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

the default browser is great... pages load very quickly without any errors. However i do wish there was text reflow and better flash support. Flash acts a little weird in the browser, sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Im sure the next firmware update will fix these issues :) @ dhanan wait and see how the prices will settle then decide :)

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

Did anyone notice that there are already 264 apps in the app store? Also. Samsung is running a developer contest so this number should shootup even more.

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

i have read somewhere (on another forum) that porting android to the wave is easy because of the originally putted bada OS is based on the linux kernel :D, ohh god, let this happen asap :D

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

Guys i know this is a noob question but can any one explain me what is " TEXT RE FLOW" ? And what are the advantages of it ?

Does Spica support Text Re flow?

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

^^ It means that means that instead of displaying text in a static way as it is on the website, the text is changed dynamically to fit the screen. For example you have a website column that does not entirely fit in the width of the screen, but the height is so less that half the screen is empty. Essentially this is not an optimal way to display that column. So what some browsers do on zooming in on an article is to re-flow the text to utilize the screen area efficiently.

Samsung I5700 Galaxy Spica review: Stars serving Eclairs - GSMArena.com

The browser supports text reflow – a moment after adjusting the zoom level, columns of text adjust to fit the screen width. Without text reflow you will either have to zoom out until the text fits (but then it’s too small to read comfortably) or scroll sideways to read each line.

Thank you :)...

@soumalidon

I think so we can download the apps from the UK store also...

yes you can :) when installing Kies jus select the country as UK and you're good to go :) I actually downloaded the free NFS shift like that. The India apps store does not have the free NFS Shift game :(

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

Got the phone today, meant for my wife. Initial impressions are very good, screen is awesome, sound is good, everthing is very fast and lag free. The apps are so-so, don't have the polish of iphone or even Android.

I think it is a great step up for the people buying a high end feature phone. Another target is people considering the Nokia N8. I see both Bada and Symbian in the same boat, neither will have the spread and quality of apps that iphone and Android will have. Then, it essentially comes down to features and the OS and in this respect, the Wave is well placed. If the N8 turns out to be a dud like the N97, I fear that Nokia is finished at the mid/high end of the market and has to resign itself to the lowerend, competing with Micromax and Spice.
