STUPID KIES!!!!
the two mini cds that came with the phone have a default installation language other than english!!!
AND IT IS NOT CHANGABLE!!!
even worst.....the installation hanged in between and after half an hours wait had to kill the process!!!
now downloading it from samsung india website......hoping it will be in english

I had no problems installing kies and using it, just have to disable my Kaspersky Anti virus while browsing apps on Samsung APPS in Kies. However, even i had to download the new updated version of Kies .

Installing Kies
Hey guys!
i just cant seem to install kies on my laptop running vista!!
when i run the installation with internet ON, it goes on to download .NET framework and hangs after 50% downloading...
AND
when i run installation with internet OFF, it gives a error about .NET but completes the installation anyways....but ones the installation is complete ...... i see the desktop icon...... i see the tray icon.....but when i try to launch the application it gives a fatal error saying the below message..

(meanwhile is there any other way i can get my contacts?? i have them in csv as well as in outlook.)

hey i got the black one!!!! dont get the gray one... people havin prob with kies... disable any firewall/anti virus... i have Kies working perfectly on Win 7 x64 ultimate...

ok kies finally up and running!
(the problem was with dotnet fixed)
searched all over for full body cover no where found...
finally bought a 50Rs sheet, the guy skillfully cut out the exact size and pasted it.....looks good
contacts imported from outlook without any hiccups
(getting the contact from my pearl to outlook was a pain though)
planning to go for airtel unlimited gprs plan Rs98 (anyone experienced this?)
dont want to change my number for mtnl 3g

thats coz when u installed Kies you selected location as US (remember the very first screen when installing Kies). There is no app store for US yet. Change the location to UK and you can download,buy and install apps from Kieskhaleelda1 said:

went to settings and changed language from "english-US" to "english-UK" ....still getting the same message!!
now reinstalling the whole thing..
the day i find that smart ass programmer who thought linking the language with the location preference would be cool........ i am gonna *&^*&%%^%$^#%^$%^!!!

hey changing the language does not change the location. When you first install kies the first screen you get is the option for the language and location. when you reinstall make sure you select location as UK. you can keep the language as US

Any proud owner here ! Can you confirm the below,
1). Does this phone comes preloaded with a document viewer,i read that it comes loaded with a picsel document viewer( for viewing word,excel,power point & pdf files, need confirmation on this. Also is it limited only to viewing or we can edit also.
2) specs suggest it has push email, has anybody tried it.
This two factors would influence my purchase to a great extent so please need your feedback on this.

the browser does have flash support but it acts up. sometimes it works properly and at other times it Jus doesn't. live streamin from a site doesn't work that well. the video lags. a firmware update hopefully will fix this.
yes it does come wit the document viewer you mentioned. basic editing options are available. push e mail does work.
