Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??
Hi everyone...
Congrats to the current owners of Wave. I'm looking forward to buying this phone really soon.
I've a few questions though, please help me clear out my queries/doubts...
1] Are there really 2 Wave models i.e. with 2GB & 8GB internal memory?
2] Is there a limitation to the SMS/Contacts storage? I'm asking this as the details/specs of Wave on 'Samsung Mobile' websites of different countries (links in attached text file) is different and varies a lot. Also some say as the SMS capacity as 590MB, somewhere as limited to 1000 SMS, 2000 SMS, etc. I also downloaded the manual from the Indian site & there it clearly shows that the SMS can be transferred to the memory card. Is this true?
3] I'm also thinking of buying 16GB card along with the phone as 32GB is still not available here. So should I buy microSD or microSDHC? Also what is the minimum class of card should I buy (I mean class4, class6, etc) for worry free 720p video recording?
4] It has a TV out functionality. So which cable does it use/require for the same? Any model number for the same as there are no supported accessories mentioned on the website & it doesn't come with one.
5] Has anyone tried the DLNA feature. Does it require any other accessory for the same (I guess not)?
6] When I went to the SamsungApps store of India there is only option of S8500, but when I use Kies v1.5.1.10071_32 (downloaded from Samsung site) to download any app, there are two options to choose from i.e. S8500 & S8500L. So what is the difference between the two? I searched a lot and found the only difference being that S8500L is for the South America while S8500 is for Europe. Also there are other versions too (in all --> GT-S8500, GT-S8500L, GT-S8500B, GT-S8500L, GT-S8500_MEA_JT) Found this on DLNA website.
BTW you can change the region in the Kies software after installing as many number of times as you want. I've done this a number of times. The way to do this is as follows:
For example you have installed by selecting India in the initial setup.
Now to change to United Kingdom to download free NFS Shift or Real Football 2010.
1] Go to Samsung Apps
2] There select the region as United Kingdom.
3] Open Kies software in background.
4] Select any app/game on the website and select 'Get'. Now the browser will check if Kies is installed on your PC and after finding it, it will open the 'Samsung Apps' in the Kies software. Do note that now you will be able to browse all the apps in the Kies - Samsung Apps store that are listed on the United Kingdom store.
5] You can use steps 1 to 4 to change the region back to India or any other for that matter any number of times.
ENJOY! Happy downloading.
I hope this is helpful for everyone here. :angel1:
I'd also appreciate if someone could guide me to a good quality Scratch Guard (in Mumbai) specially for Wave screen & if possible for the camera lens. Though the screen is said to be having Scratch-resistant surface & anti-smudge treatment for fingerprint free screen.
And yes it is available in Mumbai for around Rs. 16,990/- Check this & this out for price comparison.
