guys i m totally confused...
I called up some dealers in bangalore. Some are telling that the black coloured Wave has got 8Gb onboard and some telling both are have the same specs except the colour...
If that it is the case then where is the 8 Gb version wave...has it not released yet....i have to buy the cell within this week...

im not sure about the 8GB version in india. It maybe here but i never enquired, but i have the black one and it has 2GB yes both have same specs except color.

you're kinda right... the phone divides the memory, 1GB for bada apps and 550MB for messages. In the end the user only has access to ~390MB. You get the "free" 2GB card though.

The most frustrating thing for me during the initial setup was how to get the contacts off my wife's Nokia n78 onto the wave. My first attempt was to sync with Outlook on my PC through Nokia's PC Suite. That worked well. I then attempted to copy the contacts through the Kies software (what a piece of junk that is), but it gave up stating that my version of Outlook is not supported (running Outlook 2010 beta). Next, I exported it to a csv file from outlook and attempted to import it using the Kies software. It jumbled up the entire data, most of the numbers were missing. I save my contacts to gmail using SyncML, but even that was not an option for the Wave. By now, it was getting very frustrating. Then, I thought that i will try sending the contact via bluetooth and see if that works. Lo and behold, it did. It immediately recognized it as a contact and added it to the phone book. Luckily, S60 has an option to send contacts in bulk, so it only took a couple of minutes to get the over 100 contacts over to the Wave.
Other thoughts after a day of use
- HD video recording is fantastic, but it eats up memory fast. Have to get a 8 GB card or higher.
- Apps are generally crap, even worse than I had originally thought. Android apps are much better, not to speak of iphone apps
- If you thought the apps are bad, look at the navigation app. Maps look like something from a 10 rupee atlas from the 80's.
- The phone has been unbelievably fast throughout, not a single slowdown or freeze so far
- Sound through the speakers is very good
- Did I mention that the Kies software is crap. Finally something that rivals the Nokia PC Suite in suckiness

yes the apps need some work but the OS was jus released so give it some time what prob are u facing with kies?? its working likee a charm for me...

i never tried the default earplugs till now, but reviews say they are good. The sound from my sony earplugs are amazing all my previous phones were music phones and this one beats em all... cant complain really

finally got my own wave~~!!!
(stupid spica is still not available anywhere!!)
going out now, will check out the phone tomorrow and post.
meanwhile.......i have a ULTRA NOOB question....
the screen has a scratch gaurd on it.....but that is a printed one!!! i mean it has bada and google written in BIG letters all over it!!
so my question is if i remove it.....is there a secondary scratch gaurd underneath it?? or do i have to rush to get a new one??
OR does the printed text simply fades away??
please help!

Mine just lasts a day with normal usage.
U gotta buy a new one , there is no scratch guard underneath it. I got a scratch guard for my wave for 280 Rs. I dont think the printed text is going to fade away. BTW which color metallic black or ebony gray?

yup in the beginning my wave also lasted a day but after a few discharge and recharge cycles i get like 2.5 - 3 days....arpan said:

Hi! Maybe a little off topic, but i need to buy a phone this week and I am thinking of buying the wave. but my only problem is it is not android and resembles monte very much. Do you have any suggestions? You can post the suggestions in the thread I opened. My budget is 18k max.

this is my first touch phone....so cant give a comparitive opinion!
so far........
i have a ritual of charging the battery full before first use..........it took about 3hrs!
interface is a breeeeze!!
more info as i start using it........
FIRST HURDLE: need to get a descent scratch gaurd.......or can someone please advise if a full body cover is available!!!!
price; make; place to buy!
SECOND: need to get my contaccts of BB pearl to wave....stupid pearl dosent have a option to copy contacts "Phone to Sim" !!! how stupid is that!!!!
