I am aware of this my friend. What i was calling "whimsical" is that Anish was out of the scene for quite some time and thus is finding it a BIT intimidating to absord all the new information. But thats just my thought :P Could be majorly wrong :D

7G :S It certainly isnt possible on "sane" systems :P of course there is always room for insanity :ohyeah: nitrogen anyone ???

BTW is there anyway someone on TE can get LN2 ?? :ashamed:

If you're buying a board in the next couple of weeks, get the P5B Deluxe... it's tried and tested and doesn't have one-off issues like the P5WDH.

New Abit boards have only 1 PCI exapansion slot, which is a major drawback, else the AW9D-Max could be a viable option.

Agreed rio, I was planning on the 975 digital home thingy (sounded good), but got scared when the 975xbx didn't boot with my ram, nor the DDR2 800sticks that we had around...

At least for now me a 965 believa... the P5B deluxe ain't worth 16K, I am going to wait this one out a bit...
Besides the E6600 don't sound rosy at 17 something K, (I can't afford 33~34K for these two components anyways)...

Waiting.....and watching :P

E6600 for 17.4k is a great price dude - it's the same price it was set to retail at in the US so what's the fuss? :S Ideally, get a cheap board now and buy something better once more boards launch.

If it is priced equal to US stores as of now that does not mean its superbly priced here in India... It just means that even US stores are grabbing the opportunity with both hands and minting out as much profit as they can...

They are still priced $450 in some stores... the $360 equivalent in INR is a great price ;)

Does anybody here know how much does a E6700 cost in india and how much is the performance difference between a E6600 and E6700 and which is a better option - E6600 or E6700???

The E6700 isnt available yet.

Theres not much of a difference at Stock speeds. But the E6700 is better for Overclocking, coz its Multiplier is 10x.... compared to the 9x on the E6600.

E6700 and 6800 seems to be binned. Its clocking much better than 6600s. But issue will be pricing and it wont be available any time soon here.

Even 6600s will have availability issues soon as the next shipment that will be released for retail is not expected before october. Once the current stock sells out then thats it for a month or two. Aparantly Intel is prioritising OEMs like Dell , acer and hp here in India too.

Expect the E6700 to be close to 30k when it launches.

LOL, yeah right.

Me a total AMD guy, too bad I need to buff up my Intel lingo as everythings suddenly Intel oriented and all the "3000+ Queries" have become "E6300 Queries" :P

As for being out of the scene, well 12th Science ;)...

everyone's been harping about C2D and thats why the prices are high.. Fukk the stores in the US, I had a chat with an intel guy some months back, and had an idea about the prices and what we could expect... seems like this is turning out to be an x2 type fiasco, where we're seeing fair prices only now, at the end of the product life cycle. How'd u think they got the US 2.2 something to freakin purchase ATi??

They are overpriced in the US and overpriced here... the actual prices will be pretty clear around 4 months down the line, and that e6300 should be around 7.6K to be exact, to quote the source above... u guys do the math and see how much of a premium we are all going to pay....

Darky's deal is good, simply because it isn't available for anything lower... not because it actually is worth that much... ;)

Vandal, thats where you are not exactly accurate here.

See this. the current Pricing of E6600 is 17400.

In India we have 16% CVD for any import. 4% Vat, and the price also included 5% Octri. Substracting all these extra taxes and duties it comes to roughly $280. Now the release price of this processor was suppose to be $320. So $280 is what base price to large quantity dealers would have been.

So basically we are paying exactly what it should ideally be for E6600. Not much. And mind you this includes the dealer profit as well.

Same is case with E6300. The price deducting local taxes and import duties is $169.

Its our nature to b***h about pricing no matter what it is. :P

Its not me who's wrong buddy... I spoke with intel's top brass awhile back and let me tell you that the e6600 is grossly overpriced even in the states right now... I am not at liberty to quote figures mind you, but prices are up due to the hype and availability, the two reasons I quoted earlier.

the X2's were overpriced as well, why do you think AMD was able to reduce rates four times in the last year. If something is good, better than the competition's offerings, prepare to pay pretty penny, its sort of a price monopoly, because of lack of competition.

^^ that will always be the case. You cant do anything about that. If I have superior product you cant blame me for charging more. It happens in every industry.

That does not mean the pricing is wrong or unjustified. Amd reduced prices drastically now when they were at disadvantage on performance level. The companies are there to make money.

Absolutely..... if I have a superior product and I know there is a high demand for it, I will milk the situation for as much as it is worth :D :D

That is why they say competition is good.....in this case, not much of a competition....... :P

well yeah.. like I also said I'm not that enthu to blow up 35K, when I could work out something for say 24K a quarter or so down the line...

I can run 'most' stuff on my current config thank you...

@ Nikhil - its called skimming the cream and not milking the cow :P
