Update: that Panasonic machine with heater is 21k at reliance without any offer. 750 exchange for old machine.
There was a LG 7.5kg @18.8k with cc offer making it 18.1k including exchange of old machine.

Saw a Bosch 6.5kg TL without heater at 18k with exchange.

Edit: bought this for 19.4k with 3 yr extended warranty by reliance.

I have an older model of almost ditto the same machine you have now purchased bought in 2012 but I paid Rs 32K then - see this extremely long thread on TE

I would highly recommend buying this Heavy Duty Adjustable Trolley/Stand for your WM - It is rock-solid and handles all vibrations smoothly - PLUS POINT - is you can effortlessly slide your WM in and out for cleaning & maintenance purposed. I have two of them [ one for my 380 litre Samsung Double door refrigerator and other for my LG WM].

They have a cheaper variant which I got too as it was appropriate for my Elica 4 burner Gas Cooking range [I modified it by drilling 4 circular holes on its base to fit in the legs of the unit] for lowering the cooking range height and better stability. However I would not recommend this variant for any Washing Machines.

It's a top-end (in India anyway) top loader with DD, six motion, import and that is why it cost twice as much. Great buy. The DD as I explained in your thread offers better wash action than cheaper belt-driven models.

It's also got a bigger drum to boot. How?

7.5kg in 2012 I expect will have a bigger drum than one in 2023. Why don't you post the dimensions of your inner drum in cm? diameter and height (of just the steel part)

I notice the 6motion term has gone missing on top loaders these days and just DD is visible. 6motion top loaders were imports back in the day.

Ideally what people should get if a heater model isn't viable. The downside with the heater model is a smaller drum which means you would need a higher kg IFB/Panasonic to match. If you can't fit a FL and want the next best this is it.

Diameter is 45 cms & height is 39 cms of the steel drum (approx)

It's wider than taller (will wash better than more taller than wider) and the volume works out to 62 litres. That is big for usable volume.

Why is using a mere kg rating like you did to compare misleading? more so when comparing models of different epochs.

Present day 7kg machines work out 47 litres. Its water volume is 60 litres. Not quite the same thing...

If you're ever in the shops do check out the present day 7 & 7.5kg LG's and you should be able to eyeball the difference in drum size with yours

They only mention tub volume, on purpose because it's the bigger number instead of the more meaningful and usable drum volume.

Their argument is you can better gauge water usage per cycle. But we aren't water stressed and this is not so important at least not yet.

Drum volume has to be manually measured because this figure does not appear anywhere and can be subject to error depending on who's doing the measuring.

7.5kg will be similar as there isn't much price difference with 7kg. The price jumps a good few k with the 8kg machine which is 55 litres. Well worth it if you ask me.

Going by volume yours is the next step up 10kg maybe

An easy way to find direct drive TL LG's is the model numbers start with THD, you then decide the kg ratings.

So another update. The Reliance guy who came to install the machine was very pushy about a particular model of stand for the machine ( similar to the one @terence_fdes had linked to earlier) and he was adamant that only his way was the right way of doing things like attaching the inlet pipe to the tap like this


He's screwed the screws tightly on the o ring of that connector. I told him the bottom part attached properly directly but this is way he did it. Plus he didn't like the stand i already had and so he kept the machine directly on the ground and told me I'm on my own if i want to keep the machine on my stand. Pissed me off to no end.

Anyway, tried running the machine and it threw low water pressure error 1E. Had to go and get a circulation pump of Vguard and install it with the help of a plumber with the tank full. Smart guy closed the outlet pipe with a kitchen sponge from inside the tank and did his job very well in about 40 minutes. Took his help to put the washing machine on top of the old stand i had and the machine works properly now. Water pressure is about 3-4 bars probably.

Ran a tub clean program first to clean the machine off any factory oil etc. The guy who came to install was saying no need to clean the machine because it's already clean and new.

What I didn't like is the controls on this thing. Don't know how to operate it. It's not user friendly.
Second thing - the drum is almost the same size of my previous 6.2kg samsung washing machine.

So almost same amount of water is used by the machine.

Noiseless and strong enough to start pumping water back into the tank. I think both the inlet and outlet pipes of the loft tank are connected to the same pipe.

I'll update the time to fill a 20L bucket after sometime.

Even their manual has nothing on troubleshooting such quirks. No video demo, nothing. Useless company.

Edit: the manual says it continues after a power loss, so I switched off the power and it didn't even start up automatically. What lies. Zero rating wm.

Call LG and tell them to send a demo guy over. They are actually repair guys. You get one free visit, make a list of any issues and they will sort them out

Don't buy anything from him other than descaler if he has any.

I pressed the start button but it didn't do anything other than count down from 16 min to 15 min. Even after 5 minutes it was stuck at 15 minutes timer and didn't even start filling water. I got fed up and pressed power off button and started a new rinse and spin program which started from 17 minutes and immediately it started to fill the drum with water. It completed rinsing and spinning and played some music to show it completed.

This means if we start a wash program, we cannot open the lid to add clothes or add fabric softener because it will stop and give up doing it's job. What is the use of buying a top loader then?

Really weird way to program a machine by whoever who did it. Probably never washed their clothes their entire lives. This machine is not suitable for home use.

I timed the water output at different taps and the flow rate is different. In the bathroom, it takes exactly 2 minutes to fill a 25 liter bucket. In the kitchen it takes 7.6 seconds to fill a 1 liter bottle.

There are too many bends in the pipe in the house. There's a U bend immediately after the pump. And the water pipe goes through the ground in the kitchen. So maybe that's why so much difference in pressure.

Hi @6pack - I can understand your frustrations with trying to figure out the Control Panel & Timing Indicators on your LG WM
I have a lot older model of an LG Direct Drive WM & how I manage the control panels is what I can share

1. Check the Manual for correct programming of the steps.
2. IGNORE ANY REALTIME indicators - esp of TIMINGS
[initial timings by the WM is calculated on basis of First WATER LEVEL SELECTED; then on Wash + Rinse + Spin Cycles - and Finally ON - Actual weight of the clothes & the Water Level (Once filled up before the REAL THING STARTS ........ So Ignore Timings in this entire process)]
3. I am able to PAUSE at anytime - Open the Lid & Add anything else - then press START/PAUSE again [but I do not bother about TIMINGS...... my LG WM then resumes it's wash program .... even if may re-calculate timings ..... which I do not bother about anymore] - because end of the day - KAAM HONA CHAHIYE .... BAS

The Random Beeping Sounds are NORMAL - Its when the LG WM is re-calculating - the remaining TIMINGS & WASH CYCLE PROGRAMS - even as it refills water or completes a current cycle and proceeds to the next

BTW - You Can Put the Washing Powder/Detergent - DIRECTLY in Your Drum
The small tray is just a gimmick & you may see at the end - that some detergent residues are left behind

I need to ask my wifie - what program cycle combination she uses - where in the first stage (30-50 mins - all clothes are JUST RINSED & SPUN - NO WATER IS DRAINED OR FLUSHED OUT) .... then u continue with the NEXT Cycle. Thus your clothes end up cleaning BETTER...... so water usage is really maximised with no prior wastage in the first stage.

Yup, tried this way and it works like intended.

I also did a mistake after reading the manual.
In the manual, it was written that to minimise soap stains on clothes, we can dilute detergent powder in warm water and use it instead of putting the dry powder directly in the tray. So I diluted a scoop of detergent in a liter of hot water and put it in the washing machine before I put the clothes and started the process. And i think you can already see what happens. The machine threw out the warm soap water first and then started calculating the wash program. Lol. I got fed up and just put another scoop of detergent powder in the machine after pausing it first. I think it's hard set how it does things and very particular about it. Like an old man who doesn't like change.

Oh, i take back the earlier comment i made about this machine not saving water. It saves a lot of water. It only takes as much water as the level of clothes in the tub. Then gradually adds little here and there and then the same in the single rinse cycle. I thought it will do 2 rinse cycles but it only does one but pours some water on the clothes during spin cycle. Probably saves 40-50 liters of water not doing that extra rinse cycle.
