TES V: Skyrim - Discussion Thread

Level 7 , Health 130 , Magica 110 , Stamina 120.How do i knew what is the specialization ? Using magic is just so much fun.

Also how do I see extra other mission markers ? I only see one mission active at a time even after selecting other quests from the menu , I'm still not able to find the mission marker for Golden Claw i guess i have to deliver something in Whiterun but cannot see the marker on my map

If the mission/quest is included in the 'Miscellaneous' category then you have to enable the marker of the 'Miscellaneous' category as well as the particular mission.
Press Right key while in the Mission Overview screen when the selector is on the Miscellaneous option to select/unselect the individual quests.

What pr0ing posted. However, sometimes mission markers are faulty as well. I ran into some glitches wherein the marker vanishes when you approach it.

For all the doors wherein the claw (there are several more claws you will run into later on) have to be used, you need to rotate the seals on the door in the correct order! The solution is actually pretty simple:

Examine the claw closely by zooming into it.

Forgot to mention. This tip worked beautifully. Thanks Vikram! :)

I've found it out! Hold down the right stick button while moving the left stick forward or backward. :)

Ok I'll try to complete Golden Claw after the Diplomatic Immunity and yes many times the marker just disappears I'll apply the title update to see whether it fixes the issue or not.

Damn I'm thinking of playing Witcher 2 I played the game last time and the frame rates were pretty much around 18 so could not complete the game and left after Chapter 2 or so is it now completely fixed after Witcher 2.1 update ? Or I'll just wait for it to release on 360.

Okay, so I had 1 fight with Alduin. He escaped even after I defeated him.

Convinced two of those kings or something to come to a Peace Talk, and game crashed. The game won't load on any save game now(many), it just comes as "Not Responding"

WTF, what do I do!

Witcher 2 requires a super high-end system in comparison to Skyrim. I recall I had just assembled my new system, I jacked up all the settings in awe and the frame rate was ~30ish! Had to tone down some of the settings a bit. Nonetheless with all the mods properly applied, I can safely say Skyrim beats Witcher 2 by a large margin. Besides, Witcher 2 took me <35 hours for completion. It takes a bit more if you decide to play an alternate level but otherwise that's about it. I'd say grab the game for the X360 when it is out later and complete Skyrim for now. Let no other game take the precedence! :eek:hyeah:

^did you do any .ini file changes? Check to make sure those changes are still there.

No!!! I played for about 2 hours. Then quit the game to have a quick snack. Came back and BAM! I can't play.

God dammit!!

Regarding graphics, c'mon who are we kidding, WItcher 2 is miles ahead in terms of looks. And Skyrim's textures are (non-debatable) worse compared to Witcher 2's.

WHat I would finally say is Skyrim and Witcher 2, although seemingly of the same genre, are two entirely different games, with different approaches to the same genre, which make both games a masterpiece in themselves.

Try this mod: TESV Acceleration Layer at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim Mods and community. Read the instructions carefully. You need to download the mod from a different site given.

Also, one very amazing mod to add to the map something which is really needed: ROADS :eek:hyeah:

A Quality World Map - With Roads at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim Mods and community

And a categorized favorites menu : http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4862. Makes life in Skyrim easier.

Hmm, try this.

Disable AA and use 8x AF, use FXAA. Keep draw distances to about 75%, what resolution you playing at btw?

ALso, I enabled MLAA, working great.

I was actually playing with 4x SSAA + MLAA + SmoothVision HD 8xAF + FXAA and the game was working smoothly. Frame rate drop when I turned quickly after a while did occur, but the game looked bloody good!

That road map looks bloody good. Does it have any impact on the frame rate? I have already installed a lot of mods due to which I have been experiencing a few frame rate issues.

I started the game yesterday after reading how much fun you guys are having.
Got my Razer Onza and it is so much better with a controller.
started out as a Nord Girl :) and its awesome to hear all the rants all the men have in store while walking around skyrim...."God you make me nervous, a Girl with a Sword!!!", "What are you out to kill, Butterflies!!" And one of the best "You are beautiful; Stay away from my husband!!!"...these are from random trespassers, and some NCP. Very cool indeed.

The graphics I knew about before but the game is really so so much better with the controller, I played like 30 mjins with the kb_+mouse and then yesterday I got the controller, really enjoyed it. Can't wait to get back home, but I am no where close to you guys, just about finished a few quests thats all....

PS. Also ordered the Official Game Guide Hardcover from Amazon :)

Not sure if this is posted before, but here is an excellent guide from NVidia on how to optimize the graphics settings and what is the effect of each and every setting. They start with a default setup and increase each setting and check the fps. So you can see exactly which settings eat fps and which ones are harmless.

Anyone playing on PC, do check it out.
