TES V: Skyrim - Discussion Thread

NOt sure how much exact but quite a lot spent on this game. Weekends just seem to magically disappear :)

100 smithing, 100 light armor, 100 one handed, 70 enchanting, 70 lock picking, 50 restoration, and still only lvl 50. Now working on my dual handed so i can lvl :). Imo should use the skill tutor every level to level up skills u are gonna use very rarely. ( in my case sneak - i prefer to go in guns blazing :cool2: ). This will help a lot in leveling up curve not being hard in the late stages.

Clocked 40 hours yesterday (the highest ever I have spent for ANY game till date!)

Shows how u were not a fan of RPGs before. I got 100+ hours on diablo 2 itself :) ( 122 on bf3 as of yet ).

Btw, anyone here completed the quest - The Forbidden Legend?

Done :), Damn i hate the second boss he was pretty tough till i got close :)

Also happened to kill a couple of frost dragons inside the courtyard of the college as well.
I got an elder dragon there. Think it progress as fire -> frost -> blood -> elder. But then i was level 45+ when i first visited the place.

Stil havent visited the north western part of the map at all.

True that! If it weren't for the Mass Effect series, I wouldn't have known that there is this awesome genre called RPG. :p

Like I said before this is my first TES game but never before has an RPG game lasted me over 40 hours. I guess ME 2 clocked close to 40 without the DLCs (IIRC the save file indicated 38:xx hours as the total playtime). The DLCs would have clocked a bit more maybe 6 hours but that's about it.

Which one was it? The guy with the bow and arrow who spawns 3 clones?

I think I fought a blood dragon somewhere but I don't recall where was it. Once I got close to the frost dragon's mouth while battling it and it bit my character, took him by its mouth, swayed a couple of times and threw him away. :ashamed:

Do a power attack on the dragon when its health is very low, the character jumps on to the dragon just like Legolas of The Lord of Rings kills the Oliphants. Its simply awesome.

Yup the character does that execution pretty nicely. Sometimes, a hard slash towards the neck.

I hope you guys use the dragonbane to slay your dragons. If your Dragonbane is charged, slaying dragons becomes a piece of cake.

BTW ... what are the places in the game you guys dislike to visit? For me its Winterhold and Windhelm all because of the stupid snow. I also dislike Markath as its huge and my frame rate always suffers when I am there. :(

I am at 80 hours and for the first time I have felt that I am getting a little bored. It had to happen someday. :( I am yet to complete the main quest but I have completed most of the side quests and seen a lot in the game. I am finding it difficult to find new places as I have discovered most of the things in the map. I want to clock atleast 100 hours, I guess the main quest would do that. After clocking 100 hours, I can retire in peace.

Ha ha. A little over-obsessed are we. :p

I recommend you go ahead and finish the main quest. In my opinion it is the most well-written of all the quests and Bethesda would obviously have put the most effort in writing the main quest. The latter part is especially exciting and awesome.

Should have done like me. Dont follow any quest. Just run around in map. I am finding every place, cleaning it up and then going forward. Just clocked 70 hrs and got a bit bored at around 35-40 but fully hooked now.

Yest just for the fun of it tried to reach the top part of the map. It just kept going. Took a while before i reached "You cannot go that way" message. They have really made a huge world :)

Yesterday I decided to go to Riften and spend some time doing the quests there. Seems most quests are related to theft? Oh and I met this lady called Svana Far-Shield working at Haelga's Bunkhouse in Riften. Possibly the hottest woman in Skyrim? :drool2:

Completed the Dwemer ruin - Mzinchaleft as well. Was sent there to recover some glass sword. The Dwarven Centurion Master towards the end was pretty useless. Dwemer ruins are very interesting. But there was another Dwemer ruin (forgot to jot down its name on my notepad!), which required some key to open it. As usual some bandits had occupied the entry of the ruin and there's this stairway that leads to its main door. There's also a lever operated blade dividing the stairway into two. I am assuming this will be a part of some side quest later?

Anyhoo, I have dropped the idea of going around with a partner since there are confusions at times and he/she ends up being dead. Exploring alone is a bit scarier esp. inside the dungeons and ruins but otherwise I am loving it. :D

PS: Smithing at level 75! Cannot wait for the Dragon armor. :eek:hyeah:

Yesterday was one heck of a day! Smithing skills at 101 (that's right b1tches), unlocked the Dragon Armor, went to Skyforge straight away, used my special ring and bracers for smithing and fabricated the Dragonplate Heavy Armor set - Armor + Boots + Gauntlets + Helmet. Next stop at Shor's Stone and improved all the heavy armor to Legendary in one go. The total armor rating stands at 642 now and my character is all SET to face some serious foes. :eek:hyeah:

From 75 to 101, how some of you may ask? Took me < 2 hours with this simple trick. More like a loophole in the game. It's pretty simple. Here goes:

Ensure that you have stockpiled on plenty of dragon bones and scales. This is very simple. Just head to those sites where the dragons are spawned, you could battle those dragons once more and salvage the bones and scales. If you cannot carry them, please have some location like a fort or house ready to store these items. In my case, I used Drelas Cottage - it is pretty much straightforward in the map and the character can be quickly transported there from anywhere.

Next, have at least 5000 coin with you. You are going to need this to trade. Head to Skyforge near Dragonsreach and buy all the iron ore, iron ingots, leather and leather strips from Eorlund Graymane. Use the Skyrforge to then make some iron daggers. You will eventually run out of iron ingots. Worry not! Head to Shor's Stone (assuming you have reached there before for completing some mission from the Companions). Use the smelter there to melt the iron ore to ingots. Buy some more leather, leather strips, iron ore and ingots from the blacksmith there. Use his forge to fabricate these daggers. When you run out of iron ingots, fabricate hide braces (cheapest and uses least of the leather and leather strips!). Rinse, wash, repeat! Keep shuttling between the 2 locations and the persons would stock up on the items from time to time.

However, once you reach around 95+, Eorlund cannot teach you any further skills and you must level up on your own. Reach 100, and quip your nakid character with all the l33t Dragon Heavy Armor! Head to Shor's Stone and use the workbench to improve everything! :D

Slayed an Elder Dragon yesterday and this was somewhat of a worthy battle! Spews fire but is a serious threat if the character doesn't have proper armor. Like someone else pointed out before, the order of difficulty is something like Dragon<Frost Dragon<Blood Dragon<Elder Dragon.

Okay im at the dragon burial site, 1st dragon (except the 1 which I absorbed to be proclaimed dragonborn)

How the hell do I kill this thing? Im all alone!

I saw one dragon flying yesterday. No matter what I did, it wasnt coming down. It was not doing anything at all, just flying around in circles. I tried hurling a couple of firebolts at it, but it was too fast. In the end, I just gave up and went home. :( But, I'm only at lvl 10, so I guess it was a probably a good thing it did not come close.

Playing again, currently at 15 level :p This time focusing on getting more adventurous ;)

By the way whats the deal with dragon armor and how do I get it ?

Its an armor that can be made out of dragon bones. You need high smithing skills and some smithing perks. And deadric armor is much better.

What equipment do you have? What class have you specialised in? What is the present level (XP)?

Level 7

I play one handed sword, other hand Fire.

Shout is Force, I have Awakening the Dead blessing.

Resuming your first playthrough?

And I put my first perk in Smithing yesterday, sitting proudly at level 26 :D
I haven't spent a dime upgrading my skill in Block and it is yet to be leveled up! Presently at 55. It chose to level up itself! :p

And looks a lot cooler IMO. OTOH acquiring Daedra hearts is a PITA compared to Dragon Bones and Scales. Besides, a fully upgraded Dragon Armor set is only a notch weaker than the Daedric Armor set.

I'd say stock up on fire/frost resist and health potions. The shout is pretty much useless without the other 2 unlocks. Play hide-n-seek until the dragon lands on the ground. Once it does, approach it from the sides and hack-slash it. IMO level 10 should be when you should be prepared to face them properly. Besides, once you are done with 3~4 dragons, they'd look like poosies. There're even deadlier foes out there compared to Dragons such as like Dragon Priests, Draugr Deathlords, Master Necromancers, Master Conjurers etc. If you try facing a giant or a mammoth now, you will get raped! At level 30, they will get raped. :p

Naa, this is a second play session from scratch, this time I am with StormClock :p

Earlier I was at some 70 odd level with 100 for dual , single wealpon, 100 for heavy armor and ~90+ for restoration , light armor and other stuff.

Just enjoying travelling and learning Way of voice :p
