I'd not suggest a supplement. Do this

Mix one teaspoon of Honey and a lemon juice (of one lemon) in a glass of water. Take it in the morning with an empty stomach and go for a jog ~ 10km too and fro every day. You will surely loose weight.

but, it worked on me..

i used to go for jogging and cycling (both indoor) for almost 1 1/2 hour...i lost just 2.5 kilos in two months...

when i started protein supplement i started loosing weight and i lost 4 kilos in 1 month and more over i am feeling more relaxing..

(i skipped my two meals)

what i feel is i lost fat much faster in protein supplements than going only to gym...so,i want to balance both...

i do not want to continue this longer any more but, as i understand how protein is beneficial for healthy diet, i thought of including it in daily routine..

may be 40 grams a day in form of protein powder..(at least for some time)..so, i am in dilemma which brand of 'whey' protein should be used for weight loss..(not for body building...

where i am convinced is, the present mentioned protein shake is almost similar like b-protein, which is being recommended by many doctors for patients even for pregnant women... i am considering this b protein too, but it has soy and whey...where i am looking for 'whey isolate' only..

i follow the lemon thing, but 10 km, :).. i am doing 5 km of jogging and 15 km of cycling at medium tension..(both indoor and suggested by local gym guy).

Skipping meals and surviving on Protien Powder is a horrible way to lose weight. In cases of such extreme diets, you are also losing muscle along with fat.

I've seen people do well on low carb diets, but missing fat and fiber and carbs is a recipe for disaster. It is bordering on being an eating disorder.

Losing 4 pound per month (1.75 kgs per month) is actually a very healthy rate to lose wieght. It took me ~2 years (with lot of lapses) to lose ~35 kgs. It is not an overnight process.

A one or two pound difference does not matter, as the scale can show that difference in even at different times per day.

Also, the weight loss might look small because you are working out. You could be losing fat while building weight at the same time.

I dont think protein supplements can cause weight loss. Have you checked for medical issues related to your weight. Also you would need to concentrate more on your diet. Weight loss doesnt happen in a day or month. Depending on your current weight, you would need to have a certain time frame in your mind. Like 6 months or so, with a reasonable target

Consult expert (doctor / dietician); don't go for supplements or anything without researching and consulting the doctor.

ohhh,,,thanks for responses..

i am not that over weight..8(including the lost 6 kilos) kilos excess..i dont need this tooo..

i am very health conscious..(ohh..my wife says this)..i am 29 yrs, and as per medical term,metabolism will slow after 28.. and i am feeling it..

even after continuous workouts my weight got stagnated, then i spoke to my near gym guy and he enlighten me on protein imbalance..

i started browsing net about best protein and ended up with whey protein..

before taking this protein..(and my intake is very calculated and not excess, ) i was not feeling that much active as i was before, and i started taking this protein and it worked really well for me..

I was totally and completely against these supplements..but in some nutrition related forums they suggested protein intake on daily basis to stay healthy as it is very difficult to provide necessary protein to your body in this busy life..so i decided to start it..

but problem is which 'WHEY' protein brand to be used...if some one using it, just pour in your views..

I am 190 cm`s . before getting married weighed 92Kg`s.
Waist was 38.I used to work out when was in college but then it was like 5-7 years of gap.Now have starting working out again.Weight is 89 but waist is
now 34.I am trying to reduce the body fat to less than 10-13.Target is waist of 32 in next two months.
I take lots of proteins and less of carbs.Lots of fruits.
Whey supplement i have used twice is the Optimum Gold standard.

you can search net for how proteins will work on weight management.

body will not slow down..'METABOLISM' will slow down...

Protein helps build muscle. So people take Protein Supplements after workout to help add muscle. Muscle increases your metabolism rate.

But you are not on a proper diet (Supplements are there to supplement your diet, not replace it) and you are doing aerobic exercise. Taking protein supplements after a workout session is good, but not to replace two meals in a day.

The amount of misinformation in this post is f'ing staggering :|

Whey is FOOD. Food like everything else, has calories. But whey has crap loads of protein, protein helps with satiety (that feeling of NON-HUNGER). Bring whey into your diet if you want to lose fat, even if you are not working out. Its simply recommended on its Calorie/Protein ratio (you get A LOT MORE protein with a LOT LESS calories compared to other foods).

The only reason it should not be the sole source of protein in your diet is because it lacks minerals and other micro-nutrients your body needs to survive. Its nothing about whey as a supplement, would you only drink milk or only eat nuts to make up for your protein in the day? No. Its the same thing.

Also, your overall calories dictate your weight loss. Calories in = Calories out, and you'll maintain your weight. I don't care what the **** your doctor said, unless he has medically backed peer-approved journals to cite, which I doubt because you can't fool the laws of thermodynamics.

First of all get everything out of ur head n try n follow simple rules

1)Start doing cardio first thing in the morning empty stomach for around 20 mins...if not possible in morning then do it after u have finished ur workout

2)Stop eating junk food...real abs r made in kitchen...go for lean meats like chicken,fish,turkey...cut down on oil usage in food and dont take excess carbs and eat frequent small meals...dont overeat...self control is must

3)Eat ur dinner around 6-7 pm and minimize ur carb intake in this meal...if u feel hungry late at night have salads or fruits

4)Get 8 hrs of sleep...sleep early get up early...maintain a healthy sleep cycle

5)Do atleast 1 hr of weight training 4 days a week..dont waste time in gym...dont socialise there coz if u do in ur 1 hr u will be actually doing just 30 mins of workout n will have a false sense of satisfaction

6)There is no harm in taking Whey as it wont add to ur fat

7)If after sincerely trying everything u feel ur progress is not up to the mark u may add thermogenic fat burner like animal cuts(my personal fav)...but dont expect magic results...it will just potentiate the hard work u put in gym n in maintaining a clean diet routine

At last, a sane reply. I was tempted to post but the staggering amount of misinformation in this thread turned me off.

Whey Protein is not some magic pill that would make you lose fat. Its a protein supplement, which helps in repairing of the muscles. Simply put, the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn so indirectly whey does aid in weight loss. But it has to be clubbed with a proper calorie deficit diet and a good workout routine. And as Param said, its basically food and has exceptional nutritional value. It can in no way harm you even when taken in excess provided you are getting the real deal and not some cheap knock off.

In the end, weight loss depends on the number of calories burned in a day.

If you burn 3500 calories, you're going to lose 1 pound of bodyweight. Loosing 1 pound a week is considered healthy, therefore you need to be in a calories deficit of 3500 calories after a week to lose that 1 pound which means that during a day you have to consume 500 calories less than your daily maintenance. Say, your daily maintenance is 3000 calories, this would mean that consuming 2500 calories daily will make you lose 1 pound in a week. Obviously, this is a rough estimation and you may lose more or less depending upon various other factors. But sticking to this rule will put you on the right track. As far as workout is concerned, weight training really helps with losing body fat. Not only will lifting weights preserve your muscles but you are also going to keep on burning calories even after your workout has finished.

Yeah Bluffy you're doing awesome work in this thread. Bad info is easy to spread specially on the internet. If whey is making you fat, it means you're eating over your daily calories. Replace whey with raw vegetables and that will make you fat too if you eat MORE than your calories burned for the day. It cannot get any simpler than that.

I hate it when people use weight to measure progress. Working out burns fat alongside building muscle, muscle is denser. Unless someone is colossally fat, measuring weight would be very misleading and ultimately demotivating.

Start measuring progress with strength and cardio performance.

Also, start playing sports. Actively concentrating on a different task allows you to subconsciously push your body further. Power swimming once a week can work wonders.

If you are a noob, then you dont need protien

If you really really want cheap protien, get eggs and soyanuggets

What you need right now is a good diet and a fixed training schedule

Download 'starting strength' or p90x, its a good place to begin

go to lbexim.com,retrieve their no. and give them a call regarding saputo whey protein,they are the cheapest and pure unadulterated whey in the market!

or you can look at ebay coz one of the sellers there are selling saputo there,though his genuineness is not confirmed...

Guys!

I have been working out regularly at the gym. I'm slim and fit as such but under weight so I have been taking Serious Mass for last 4 weeks now to gain some weight. I would like to now switch to Whey supplement. Hows ON Whey 100%? I'm working out everyday for 2 hrs at the gym for last 2-3 months now.
