The Photography Thread !

fantastic shots there superczar.

here is propbably my first contribution to this thread.

A panorama shot of Rohtang ice claden peak taken in november on my diwali vacation.
the camera is Canon PS A95.

The stitching was done with canon Photostich software, its not perfect but does better and faster job than PS CS 2.

Brilliant shots czar! Very well controlled exposures and terrific compositions, a real delight

Thanks Anish..though to tell you the truth, the only pic in which I actually tweaked the settings was for the shot of the tree with the moon in the background...

All other pics were taken in Program mode or equivalent with plain WB/ISO/flash adjustments at the most

nice pic.

oh man, Rohtang pass. you brought a lot of good memories of that beautiful place. if only i had a camera back then :(

@czar: Beautiful shots which take you to the place and give a sense of expanse and atmosphere. :) Sexxxxy.

I love all of em except for #4 and #5 which are just snapshots and do nothing special. The slow-sync flash in #4 kills it and the total lack of purpose in the duckshot also makes it just normal. And am just not a fan of date-stamped photographs. :D

Now, talking of Lonavla and Tripods...I have something connecting both. My friend and I dashed off to Lonavla on the expressway a few days back, him with his car and me in it with a tripod and my new wide-angle converter for my H2. Well, here are the results.

The nightshots are all at 30 second exposures with varying ISO and f-stops. Critique welcome. :)

Payne

nice shots there Payne..esp the 1st long exp shot

again, at the risk of sounding repetitive, none of these shots were composed shots, just plai P&S except for #4

on a side note, I have a fujifim z5d the sensor for which , though not in the same league as the fujifilm z50(?) is still technically considered to be a far better sensor than the one on the ultracompact canons

the only hitch is is that the sensor on the z5 requires some amount of homework before it can give you the best possible shots

in plain auto/program mode (i.e. take out camera-aim-shoot), the canon returns far beter results while the fujifilm gave better results if the camera settings were manually set to the optimal settings

great shots. These have potential. maybe could have been less exposed to get better colors. plus dont underestimate the use of a tripod (or any steady support) for these shots. will make a huge difference.

@d_payne: Great shots as usual. "3 pointed star" (done well to avoid the headlamps to capture the stars), "Parked" and "Stationery" are especially good. "Power Up" has a Middle Eastern look to it (maybe its just me).

Here are some of mine.
1: Flying into the sunset. :: Only PP here were to take out the scratches on the window.

2: Silhouette on Pink: I actually missed the timing on this one. The colors were even better.
