The Photography Thread !

Image Stabilization really works I must say ! That Pigeon shot would have been a blur if I took it at full zoom handheld on my cam.

But I have to say, the Fuji S8000 has a lot of CA (purple fringing) in the pigeon shot.

I believe you can correct it in Photoshop if you want. Though it doesn't really spoil the image IMHO.

How did you shoot these images BTW ? Did you use full Auto or did you use some manual settings ?

I had a doubt if the IS was working,I tried to shake the hands purposefully to take some pics and they were shaky.May be I was expecting too much.:)

I don't know what is purple fringing, though heard about it almost all reviews.Anyway I think the camera is good.I will reccomend it to everyone.

It wasn't AUTO,i was using P mode and playing with it,so I dnt know the settings. But it showed up in the exif viewer.may be you can find it from here.Or if you say so,I can get them.

@Rambo - No dude, I couldn't see the EXIF settings.

Also IS is not a revelation ! It usually enables someone to shoot at slower shutter speeds to get a sharp picture.

Its just that at full zoom, any slight shake will cause blur in the image. Thats why I was surprised at the sharpness of the pic at full zoom which means IS is working well. Most of my shots at 380 mm (full zoom) are quite soft and not sharp at all unless I use a Tripod.

You took that shot at 486 mm I believe which means even more blur if you shake even a little bit.

And good you are playing with your camera by using P mode, you will then start taking better and better shots as you learn more about your cam. Keep clicking !

@ Soggy - Finally, no more deer !

Anyways while the birds are nice, I don't really like the rusty cages. It would be nice if you could use Photoshop or something and change the background. (Don't ask me how ! Since I am a complete Noob as PS !)

I particularly liked the Toucan (I think thats what it is called)(The 3rd Pic).

The 4th Pic was spoilt as it was a bit blurred, though the Parrots Green color was very vivid indeed. The eagle looked handsome, but the rusted cage destroyed the image for me. (Ya I know I am picky !)

Posting here after long..

Here's a pic of my baby :). Think it would have looked better with the focus shifted lower.

Taken in low light with a post it note on the flash.. liked the result. :)

Nice effect ! But yeah, the focus should have been on the guitar itself.

Which cam is this ? I can see hardly any noise.

I intentionally focused on the fretboard. Thought it would make a different pic. Was just trying out stuff so didnt bother to review the pic immediately. Tried out some pics trying to soften the lighting using the flash. Used a normal A4 white sheet, pink and yellow PostIt notes.
Got some really nice potrait pics of my wife but she'd kill me if I put them up on this forum.

The cam is a Nikon D40x with the stock 18-55mm lens. Used it on aperture priority with the flash on.

Hi Soggy;
Thanks for the info,I always thought tht the IS wasn't working as it was blurry when i was shaking it intentionally for testing purposes.

I took about 5 pics and only 2 were good others weren't with good exposure. The EXIF data is attached below.

WARNING HUGE POST!

Well. As promised, here's my next upload from Goa. But this has a bit of a twist.

All the photographs that follow below have been taken with my Sony Ericsson K790i Cameraphone. There has been a lot of post-processing done, I am not shying away from saying that. But the work has only been in the following areas - Levels, Curves, Shadows/Highlights Adjustment, Sharpening, Noise Reduction (NeatImage), Color tones/corrections and in some cases, noise addition through Photoshop CS3.

Why these snaps? 'Cuz they show that you don't need a great camera to produce decent photographs. It's more about the availability of the camera at hand when you need it. When we went to these places, it was peak monsoon in Goa and as anyone from Goa knows, goan monsoons are nuts. There was no other piece of electronics on us apart from our cellphones...and here's where this great phone comes into its own. :)

I admit none of these will print out large - a max of 4"x6" for any of these snaps (most of these are 2MP to save space on my 1GB card which stores music too). But for me, the fact that I atleast have a web collection of Goa in the monsoons is good enough. Enough talk, onto the photos.

nice pics..post processing or no post processing ..to me it doesnt matter..the thing is the pics looks really good..and i am anyways not capable of making out any post processing done on pics.

you really prove that how even 3.2mp k790i camera can be put to good use..

@d_payne - Mindblowing pics ! I really like this set more than even the previous set. There isn't a single photograph in that list that I dislike. :thumb:
