The Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus Thread.

^ I have a GS2 and I'd happily swap it for the GNex any friggin' day. Yes, the GS2 has a better CPU/GPU and camera, but that gorgeous curved HD screen on the GNex more than makes up for it. Also, any GNex JB ROM is far smoother than the current JB builds for GS2. That's mainly because we do not have Project Butter fully running as Samsung hasn't officially outed JB for the phone, but other issues keep cropping up.

From what I've read and seen, the GNex's 5MP snapper is great in daylight and sucks at low light pics (that's the case for almost every mobile phone/P&S camera) and for non-gamers, the weaker GPU is a non factor. The only real problem I have with the GNex is its lack of microSD slot. 16GB is simply not enough for me as the HD videos, images, nandroid backups and Titanium backup files tend to eat space like a mfer.

I really agree with you on this point. With an interface as smooth as on the GNex on JB, there is no requirement for higher-end phones like the S2 or S3, unless you are a really hardcore gamer who plays the most graphics-intensive games on your phone. On the other hand, if you were that hardcore, you wouldn't be gaming on your phone in the first place. ;)

Rightly said, mobiles aren't for gaming :p, people who game complain about battery issues etc.,
Watching movies and listening to music on a Nexus is heaven ;)

BTW there's a Xenon HD update, get it guys ;)

I have never faced any issues with gaming on my Gnex. Even graphics intensive games like Shadowgun, Dead Trigger run without any issues on this phone. Only probelm is that we are restricted to 16GB storage space. HD vids, games take lot of space. But dont expect sd slot in the future nexus devices. You might get 32 gb space, but with google trying to promote google drive sd slots are out of question on nexus devices.

I have a question folks ... I just started using GNex and want know what is the source of data the fone uses? When I am connected to wifi the fone uses wifi connection. But when I am not on wifi what is the source of 2G data. The reason I am asking is that I have a vodafone mumbai connection and only data used from "Vodafone Mobile connect" is free for me. (Other 2 sources being "Vodafone Live" and "Voda MMS". I think these are all GPRS settings) My question might sound really stupid, but I am an absolute absolute noob. Can someone pls help?

Source as in? Ok, if you're using a Vodafone sim and have those GPRS settings saved (ie, Vodafone Mobile Connect) then you shouldn't worry about the "source". The other 2 settings that you've mentioned are ofcourse as the name suggests for Vodafone Live SIM services and MMS. In a nutshell, do not worry about any deductions, unless you change sim and save different Access Points (GPRS settings).

Ebay Advice

can anyone recommend a good case for me? just got this phone yesterday from ebay.

From which seller did you purchase it?

I want to buy this phone but after reading about the screen issues (purple/green tint on low brightness) I am a bit skeptical about buying it from ebay, since some sellers whom I asked said they wont give me a return/refund if I the piece I buy has this defect..

Next nexus phone confirmed to be be made by LG

next nexus | Android and Me
On the front, there's a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 768x1280px. On the back, there's a 8 megapixel camera.

The real disappointment is on the inside. Despite the presence of the powerful quad-core Qualcomm chipset with 2GB of RAM, the built-in storage is only 8GB and there's no card slot for expansion.

Judging on the limited storage, LG wouldn't like it for their Optimus Nexus phone to compete with their other flagship phones.
It's much like how Samsung supplied a measly 5 megapixel camera on
their Galaxy Nexus.

The ones floating around are given out to devs for testing purposes. It might have less built in storage. I am sure they wont release the nexus with just 8gb. They will upgrade it to 16gb or follow apple's tactics of releasing 8/16/32 gb. But there will no no micro sd slot.

I did see some pics from the camera and there is no improvement from the current nexus device. 8MP is ok but I was hoping for a better optics and sensor, but looks like this nexus also comes with a crappy camera. rest of the specs looks good.

The design looks real stupid, like a shrunk textbook, besides LG has a very bad rep in 2nd hand market (atleast in India), their value decreases like a person does when he's suffering from loose motions.
