The Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus Thread.

Seeing that you are based in Mumbai, you can get yourself a GNex from either Alfa, Heera Panna or any other major mobile stores around your area. Current market price is around 24k for a new GNex.

This is the screen protector that I have been using since day 1.
ScratchGard Screen Protector - Samsung - i9250 (galaxy nexus) | eBay

I love the TPU cases, I think they look really good and also provide fair bit of protection for your phone. The one I bought from eBay is this:

Hi..how is the black-s-line-back-case ...How is the grip?. is it too hard or too soft? Please share your reviews..
Thanks in advance

It is neither too soft nor too hard. It's perfect I would say. It has a solid grip because of the kind of texture on the sides and the phone feels solid when held with the cover on. I really like it. The left half of the back is slightly slippery but because of the side grip I never fear dropping the phone. Please check a couple of pics I have uploaded:

Hope this helps :)

Its a TPU Gel case mate, its suppose to be neither too flappy nor to solid
It will fit straight onto your GNex with great ease and provide better protection than normal silicon cases out there in the market

As far as the grip is concern, the case has some textures on the sides which will help with the grip, similar to the back battery door on the phone
And if you have a white GNex please dnt make the mistake of getting a black case....its looks AWFUL thats the reason i use my GNex naked with just a screen protector atleast untill i find a decent white/transparent case that fits my needs :)

thanks yash and Pat for the review...and BTW why would a white look awful?
Does it leave marks? cause i believe the black color would hide the white color completely :p
So it should all look the same..any reasons?

Yes, I use it on a White GNex and don't think it looks bad. Most of the white areas of the phone are covered and you only see the white color in a couple of small openings on the back for Speaker, Charger/Earphones etc.

Its just personal opinion,I find my chic white GNex toooo sexy without any covers :p
Thats why i'm looking for a decent white case which will preserve my vision(I love white)

Exactly, that small little openings are things that i dnt like when the body is white and the case is black
I know you can't hide those openings or remove them but i find it weird,Just personal taste :)

You know Pat,i tried on this particular cover at a local store- New Silicon Back Case Silicone Cover for Samsung Galaxy Google Nexus Prime i9250 | eBay
And boy my GNex was looking UGLY so then i decided to go get a nice white TPU case that suits my needs or probably find a completely transparent/clear case so the white is visible

Yep, to truly appreciate the look and feel of the phone, use it with a cover for a week or two, then remove the cover and use it for a day. Huge difference :)

Guys, could you guide me on a best ROM for Gnex? I was thinking of flashing either Liquidsmooth or AOKP. Anybody on custom ROM or has tried custom ROMs? After using the Gnex for 25Days, i find slight lagging which i cannot tolerate on a dual core 1gig smartphone :no2:

Yes. I tried Trinity kernel but couldnt come up with a good setting. Can anyone tell me what RGB settings they are using and on which kernel to tackle this issue.

Liquid Smooth has to be by far the speediest ROM. If you have always been on stock ROM, the difference will be huge. However, Liquid 1.4 had a major deal breaker bug for me which was that it automatically put my active call on hold if I received another call. It was fixed in the internal builds after 1.4. I am not sure they have released 1.5 yet since their thread was deleted on XDA. Rootzwiki is where you would want to check. Having said all this, if you want a stable and fast ROM, go for CM9 nightly (CM9 RC is just round the corner).

I've heard wonder stories about the LiquidSmooth ROM, I've downloaded AOKP b38 and i was trying to figure out if liquidsmooth is way better than AOKP. What do you think?

I have tried CM9 but honsetly had some issues with the volume rocker and sounds going low automatically sometimes so i had to manually turn it up

Currrently im on ARHD 4.0.1 and i find it smoother than the stock rom,its just been 2 days and im happy with the performance so far but the only drawback is lack of customization options compared to CM9

So as @Pat said,CM9 RC is around the corner and will try tht out....

What's the battery backup that you guys are getting? Has anybody got an extended battery for the phone? Cheers..

On a balanced usage of a total total hrs of on screen time,I get up 25hrs which includes Music,SMS,3G usage and calling
Nope,Haven't tried the 2000mAh battery because as far as i know, the extended battery only come with a titanium back cover and i have a chic white GNex so won't look good :p

That is some great screen time that you're getting.. So with 2G only its bound to be even better..
The main issues for me are the lack of FM radio (duh!) and no micro SD card.. Otherwise the king of droids rock..

Galaxy Nexus is getting Jelly Bean (4.1) soon! Can't wait :D
@ashttrix Battery life is about the same as other Android phones like Galaxy SII. I get around 24-30 hours of backup with ~ 2 hrs of screen-on time. ~ 20-24 hours with ~4 hrs of screen-on time.

Regarding lack of micro-sd, you can buy a OTG cable and connect USB drives to it. Not the most elegant solution, but works fine :)
