The Windows Phone 7 thread

Basic functions are same in Nokia Drive. You wont find anything shockingly different. Maybe some features are less...havent used it that much. But was using it to navigate the other day on my Focus and surprisingly I was the only one in the car who got GPS locked throughout the journey and Nokia Drive worked beautifully. Others had androids and faced issues after every couple of minutes.

Previously was using C7 so have good experience with Nokia maps.
 
When you make a Zune account for Apps and stuff, you guys selected India as country or made one wid US? Indian store does have all the apps I hope.

What is a 'Clean Rom' ? You mean just rooted phone with stock firmware ?

Choosing an Indian LIVE ID means you will be able to buy apps and see prices in RS. But because Zune isn't featured in India, most of the Zune features will go.

Since I was never likely to buy apps and I can get the missing Indian apps from W.i.n.c.o app store (a pc software which downloads the apps to your PC) and listen to a lot of music, I went the US ID way.

What Zune features are you talking about?

Also, never heard of WINCO App store. Its all greek for me as of now. Mind sharing some more info.

Zune features on the phone include the ability to load artist bio, related artist, smart dj, artist backgrounds, music identifier and the Zune marketplace itself (can't buy anything from there but you can listen to samples).

WINCO app store is a software for your PC that lets you download apps to your PC and install them to your phone. You're phone needs to jailbroken to use it.
 
Cant buy apps from Zune market place from PC but can only buy on the phone, that what u meant right?

As for WINCO app store, I guess its available for Windows PC only so not much bothered about that since I am using Mac.

No wait I've confused you.

I am talking about the phone only. Let me simplify it :

- Marketplace is the app store for apps.

- Zune Marketplace is the store for music ONLY and isn't available to India.

Windows Tango update codenamed 'Refresh' to bring WiFi tethering for Lumia 710. thank god Atleast we are getting the frequent updates which were promised.

Amazing, Wifi hotspot was one of the reasons as to y I bought Omnia W instead. Now that I will be receiving it tomorrow they come up with the update.

I just received the Omnia W and have been breaking my head over how to transfer my contacts from Blackberry, got an easy solution? One option was to sync them from Blackberry to Gmail then Gmail to WP. But then I dont want all the contacts from Gmail coming to my phone, so got any other solution?

transfer them to SIM >> insert SIM card in Omnia >> go to settings >> people settings >>import my SIM contact. You're done !!
