In a quest to find the best of the crop app for a certain use, i request members to list down the app they are using for some most basic things in their android phones and reason (need not be very detailed)
I will start from my side

1. Launcher - The most important thing i guess. I use GO Launcher EX because it provides many features likes horizontal scrolling in app drawer. Long time an item in app drawer to uninstall, multiple home screens.

2. Keyboard - I use swiftkey because of the way it accurately predicts current as well as forthcoming text.

3. SMS - I use GO SMS Pro since it provides features to enable a popup notification when a new SMS arrives and i can delete it then and there without having to visit the app. Also it provides the classic Inbox, Sent style SMS Messaging. Backup and restore of SMS is available which means switching ROMs and getting back old SMS is easy.

4. Alarm - Using default clock / alarm which came with CM7. No need of any fancy app for this function.

5. Reminder App - For forgetful people like me. I use Business calendar free and setup a 4x1 widget on home screen to show next 3 events. Syncs with google calendar.

6. Full fledged month calendar on home screen - Wanted a full screen current month calendar on one of the homescreens. Did not find anything apt. Please suggest.

7. File Manager - Using Filer and Astro.

8. Browser - Opera Mini and Opera Mobile

9. Download apps - Appbrain, Default Market and other aftermarket sources.

10. Contacts/Dialer - Go Contacts / Dialer for enabling smart dialing.

^^ Long press the shortcut or widget, you'll see a trash bin at the top or bottom - drag the widget/shortcut into the trashbin. Done.

Any one here facing issues with appbrain application? Not able to search or browse anything.

Bad news for people who were using Locus for downloading maps. The latest update will remove the map saving functionality is guess. Because google and others have supposedly told the developer to do so. Not sure if it will work in current version too.

Install FireFox and then add 'SaveTube' add-on.

It maynot be directly searched but it is listed if you search for youtube in add-ons

^^Cannot install firefox on Blade. Architecture not supported :@

WhyTH did Firefox not make a A6 (or whatever blade is) compatible browser, i mean it is just a...Browser

Skyfire is of any help here ??

Guys, what's the best app for transferring files from PC to phone through wifi?

Also, it will be very helpful if I can transfer files to other wifi enabled phones as well.

Guys i m still using my stock application, need suggestions for following :
1. Music player with equalizer (already available as bass, pop, classic etc) :ashamed:
2. A web browser (confused between skyfire, opera, dolphin and firefix) :S
3. Messenger with multiple logins (gmail, facebook, yahoo) ..using rechat but shows ads every now and then :@
4. Uninstaller for stocked applications

^^Opera mini and opera mobile hands down for browsers. Skyfire if you want full fledged web experience and ability to play videos from inside the browser especially on phones like blade which dont have flash.
imo messenger for instant messenger.
For uninstalling stock apps, use titanium backup, safest way (remember to root your phone before that)
