That's true.

Combat in this game is lacking and for some reason the character faces are not as detailed as the previous game. Other than that, top notch.

Was finally able to start playing today. Full day conference yesterday (6:00 AM - 9:00 PM). Had another 7:00 AM meeting today, but I left work a couple of hours early to come home and play.
Damn, the first three chapters were fun! Just started the fourth, but will savour this. Plan to play just 2-3 chapters per day.

FINISHED!!!!!

What a Rush :2guns:; Man this has to be the absolute best game / movie I have played / watched.

Incredibly engaging. Naughty Dog has really outdone itself.

There is no doubt why IGN rated this 10/10 and why some other magazine / blog I have never heard of called it "One of this generation's best"

I started to play last night thinking I'll go maybe an hour.... guess what? It's 9:30 AM now.

Almost sad that it's over... boy are you guys in for a treat.

Off to work now fellas :bleh:

Completed the game. It was one EPIC ride in all proportions! My most anticipated game of the year just seemed to have proved its worth. Heck, on one side we have sh1tty movies like Ra.One which seem to blatantly copy concepts from games and on the other side we have titles like these which makes us feel as if we were inside some movie!

This game without an iota of doubt, sports THE best visuals for any console game developed till date. For a console that has been touted to have outdated hardware considering present generation computer hardware, this is definitely the kind of optimisation other game developers should target and achieve. Absolutely flawless on all accounts - no lags, no glitches, no frame drops. The lighting effects and shadows were the best I have seen in ANY game till date, period. Literally shat my pants at some of the sequences and visuals in the game. However, character designs - I suppose I've seen better, L.A. Noire maybe. Voice acting was good as usual and so were the soundtracks but I reckon Uncharted 2 still had some of the best soundtracks.

I am glad Naughty Dog came up with a worthy sequel to the series. I hope there is a sequel in the works and maybe it would turn up 2 years hence. Good luck Naughty Dog and we all love you! Congratulations in advance for all the praise and awards this title would garner for you. :p

PS: Completed the game on hard mode and collected 68/100 treasures.

^^ Okay loverboy.. we all get it (again) that u r so in love with UC series.. :p

What about the game play...? better than UC2 ?

Rate the uc3 against uc2 pls..

And if somebody can.. do put uc3 vs batman ac as well..

Lastly.. if somebody can tell me where to get the UC2 soundtrack of Heart of Ice.

Batman vs Uc comparison should not come from batman fan.

Also does uc 3 shows any clues for uc4

I for one, could not spot any radical changes in the game compared to Uncharted 2. Well, the combat is definitely more refined this time. Hand-to-hand contextual combat for instance. It felt very similar to The Bourne Conspiracy I had played sometime back. And there are subtle changes to the way Drake moves around and interacts with the surroundings. For instance, when Drake is running and takes a steep turn around some corner, he touches the surface with his hand and aids him in boosting his speed which feels very realistic. There are several other instances when you feel that Naughty Dog has paid a lot of attention to the details.

Better than Uncharted 2? Well yes in a way it definitely is. But however the kind of changes that happened from Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2 is not to be felt in Uncharted 3 but like I mentioned before I have never seen such surreal visuals before in any game. So much for the outdated hardware on the PS3! :p

JUST PLAYED TILL CHAP 6 .. AND ITS AWESOMEEEE :D ... bloody awesome movie its like :D .... im playing on 3.55 ... got it from stormy ... god knows when he will start playing :p

^ yes it will! Although Gannu bought a legit copy of uc3!

Actually that is what I was asking. Since UC3 is a new release, will a retail copy (from say Musicland) work on a PS3 which has legacy 3.55 OFW...?

Not with the retail disc in the console Anil. You will have to make yourself a backup of the Uncharted 3 disc to your internal drive using multiMAN, patch the relevant files and then play the game.

With the disc in the drive, it is going to force you for a mandatory 3.72 OFW update.

18 chapters done. Game has been brilliant.

The only issue i had was the aiming, but it seems naughty dogs has invited members from neogaf to their studio to fix this issue.

The First 5 chapter were under whelming and i guess it can put some people off but after reaching to chapter 18.

I appriciate what they did in the beginning, otherwise the game would had been too much like uncharted 2

Btw does it seem like Chloe is attracted to Cutter?

During some of the sequences, she seem to take a lead in consoling the guy. Notice when Cutter gets hallucinated after getting shot by the dart and when he falls off the burning platform, she comes to his rescue first. And the ending does not seem to say what happened to the two of them. IMO they could have included a short sequence that shows something about the two, like Cutter recovering from the broken leg and Chloe maybe (just maybe) taking care of him or something. :p

I so loved Elena in the game. She portrayed this 'girl next door' types so perfectly while caring for Nate at the same time. I so loved that sequence when the two of them meet after Drake's desert trip! Oh and btw there is this awesome concluding sequence in the game about the two of them (most of them would have probably guessed it by now):

suggesting Nate and Elena are married! :)

Notice the Rolls Royce Phantom inside the cruise ship's cargo stowage area. So realistically modeled, including the front lamps, grills, suicide doors but missing the Spirit of Ecstasy.

ND are looking for feedback for aiming issues.. inviting neogaf people to come to the studio.

IMPORTANT: Naughty Dog Looking for GAF Feedback Re: UC3 Aiming Issues - NeoGAF

Developer Naughty Dog took time to address gamers’ concerns over the change of the gunplay mechanic, Naughty Dog has stated that guns fire in “a completely different way” in Uncharted 3. Here are Naughty Dog’s comments:

"Keep that in mind, as it affects your perception of gun combat as a whole since it's very easy to want to compare the two sets of mechanics between the two games. In Uncharted 2 the bullets would leave the barrel at a pre-set deviation when you were aimed in. What this means is that the bullets would not fire straight out of the barrel all the time - they could come out at an angle. Therefore, you could have a target clearly in the reticule and still miss it by a wide margin. This was frustrating, because it was difficult to tell why you were missing a target. As a result, we wanted to be sure you had a better grasp of whether you were hitting or missing a target. In Uncharted 3 the bullets now fire straight out of the barrel 100 per cent of the time. However, we have recoil - where the reticule moves/bounces as you fire. Therefore, it is easier to tell if you are missing or hitting a target. Now it is much more obvious when you are hitting or missing based on the reticule itself. With Uncharted 2 it was pretty much guaranteed you would aim in one of the eight directions and it was hard to deviate from that (imagine it being almost like a traditional eight-way arcade stick). With Uncharted 3, you can deviate from the straight path from each of the eight directions much easier and more precisely. Perhaps one of the more significant changes revolves around the accuracy to the AK rifles. In Uncharted 2, you could fire the AK across the map with extreme accuracy, and thus players would tend to stick with the AK all the time. In Uncharted 3, we changed the AK to be used at closer ranges to encourage players to use other guns rather than just keeping the AK the entire game. Fact is, the AK in Uncharted 3 isn't great at long range intentionally. The GMAL or the M9 are much better choices for long range combat. Don't forget that the AK also works much better and with better accuracy if you burst fire it rather than just holding the trigger down."

So it would appear that the main change in the firing mechanic was to make the bullets come straight out of the gun all the time instead of curving out of the barrel. Even having played only a fraction of the game, I could still notice a slight difference in the way I was firing so this is definitely a significant change that was made.

The utube vid might look strange at the start and might wanna make u ask, why is he abusing the sticks like that, but he makes a good effort to avoid the small/subtle movements of the sticks which trigger the onscreen action.

I am not sure about this but I did not notice this input lag somehow. If it was as obvious as indicated in the video, I am pretty sure it must have caught my eye. FTR I played it on the phat 80GB console on the hard difficulty mode with the console plugged into a SPVA LCD panel on the default sensitivity settings and raked in some 100+ headshots (I should know because the trophy flashed during the game and I noticed it!).

Anyone else noticed this lag? If yes, what were your respective configurations? blahmaster?

Props to Naughty Dog's Arne Meyer for pitching in on GAF's thread and inviting someone over to their studios to give it a shot.
