Very urgent- Should I pick an iphone

Okay here were my reasons...

1) The onscreen keyboard input system refused to register my keystrokes correctly just way too many times.
2) I can't SMS without looking at the keypad unlike a normal phone. Lack of a physical keypad is a pain.
3) The battery in the Iphone is non removable. If the battery dies, well u gotta ship the device back to Apple to have it fixed
4) For the price, it better provide 3G
5) No expandable storage... no SD card slot
6) It lasted me barely a day and half on full charge
7) Now this is the biggest reason to reject it outright... Its a smartphone which supposedly allows you to check e-mail and the damn thing doesnt support syncing with Microsoft Exchange.
8) You can't play wave files, nor can you set them as ring tones.
9) Forgot to mention earlier... it doesnt support any form of push technology for mail/calendar syncing. Not that useful to me but for some folks this is absolutely necessary.

2)For a guy who sends less than 30 sms a month i dont see why u should gripe about this
7)Since when does apple like MS :P
8)Why do u need wav when u can use MP3? :S

1. Guess it takes some time getting used to ..
2. A personal thing ... I can't text without looking anyway ...
3. They replace it right ? So what's the issue ?
4. 16k ain't really that much for a phone like z iPhone.
5. You buy 8GB+ cards for your other phones ??
6. Gizmodo says the battery is really good :S
7. Wait for 3rd party apps ..
8. Umm, I think they've found a way around it ...
9. 3rd party apps ?

3)They replace it sure, but they charge u $89(+shipping) for it, not to mention if ur in india ur not seriously gonna send it to the us for a batter change?
5)What if u took some pics on ur cam and want to view it on ur phone, or want to transfer stuff from someone else's card to urs. A memory card slot would have been very convenient, not neccesarily for expandability

damn.. the people here opposing the iphone have come up wit some really lame excuses to not like the phone, A few of the classics:

5) No expandable storage... no SD card slot

What if u took some pics on ur cam and want to view it on ur phone, or want to transfer stuff from someone else's card to urs. A memory card slot would have been very convenient, not neccesarily for expandability

Damned thats wat god invented bluetooth for..!! and whn did u trnsfr stuff frm some1 elses card 2 ur phone or anything,, freakin every other mobile these days comes wit a diff kind of memory card.

8) You can't play wave files, nor can you set them as ring tones.

Wait lemme check, out of the 4000 songs that i have how many r wav,??

oh right sorry, theyr all in mp3 cause thats wat the world uses these days.

4) For the price, it better provide 3G..

oh right, we in india r so advanced that wer using 4g.!! we dont even freakin hav 3g in india yet, so yr u cryin bout it??

2) I can't SMS without looking at the keypad unlike a normal phone. Lack of a physical keypad is a pain.

When was the last time u saw a pda phone?? remm somethin bout it like .. "oh yeah!! it dint have a keypad!!" thats right..

Man apple iphone haters.. u need to get a life.. !!

Good Night!!

Actually there are plenty of things that iPhone does not have that other phones in that price range has.

I simply cant buy a phone for interface alone. Thats the reason I dont own iBook/powerbook or iMac ;)

Apple will never have the kind of 3rd party support that WM or Symbian has. Thats cold fact.

iPhone has poor call voice quality, many people have complained of this. There is distinct hiss on this phone during the calls. It has poor email, PIM connectivity, the virtual keyboard on this device simply sucks.

Email app is pathetic at best. You cant even select all messages for group action.

The sent, read message status is not synced with the pc, your mail filters dont work on iPhone, only 200 latest messages can be accessed, IMAP server messages cant even be marked as read. These are some serious restrictions on email's front.

The browser sucks as well on this phone.
Touch screen only interface is not an issue to be honest. You will get used to it soon enough. Even i though i would not like it but i got used to my dopod quickly. And you can make calls fast enough without even using the stylus. your fingers are enough to dial. There are on screen cell phone type keypad and onscreen keyboard. So if you are used to using normal cell with T9, you can use that kind of touch screen interface as well which will basically eliminate use of stylus.

The current iPhone is just eye candy novelty device, nothing more.

When you buy WM phone, you better do your research. The real power of WM is unleashed on the phone that has great community support like HTC device enjoys. There are plenty of features, unlimited programs, experimental as well as cooked custom roms for those devices.

I dont hate apple and their products. iPhone had great potential but apple blew it with its first gen iPhone for me. Waiting for better refresh.

aww...c'mon...the browser on the iphone is miles beyond the browser on any mobile phone..that's the primary reason i bought it.....

as for the voice quality, that's a Cingular network problem, not the phonr

anyway, let me unlock it this week, try using it for a while than what I saw in a couple of trial runs on others' phones...only then i can give an objective opinion

I am not talking about browser's functionality. Its about its stability. The internet is full of stories of magical disappearance of browser every now and then on iPhone :P

He's buying this solely to show-off, something is cool so long as no one here can get it (yet).

...if thats the reason then fine.

who buys v1.0 of any product ?!?

We should also remember that no phone below 30k has got a 3.5 inch 320x480 pixel touchscreen. Almost all the PDAs in the iphones price range and above have got just 2.8 inch QVGA displays. And the display plays a major part in a mobiles price point.

d-uh...absolutely not....

Here is the reason why I bought it...I'll never buy something solely to show it off...

I am a big symbian fan...so much so that I used a 3230 for 2 years (which is an eternity) and then upgraded to a N73 ME recently...

In the intervening period, I also picked a HP ipaq win mobile phone but Win Mobile is as stable as win 98 and the frequent crashes and bad usability wasn't somethign I could live with on my phone...Maybe on my PC, I am willing to live with crashes etc. but not on a mobile device

So coming back to Symbian, I love its ability to support 3rd party apps and the huge library of apps....

However, what I also observed is though i had installed tonnes of apps on my 3230, i hardly did it on the N73

and the reason for that is most people including me are not going to use their phone to run a Putty or Telnet (hope you get the drift)

And pretty much most of the time, I'll use my phone for calls (obviously), texting, multimedia , some very plain games (I don't need a fps on my phone) and browser....

And these are the areas the iphone excels in....

I am not saying that the iPhone is THE phone to have, but do give the thing a try and yyou'll know why I opted to pick it up
