I've stayed for long durations in Baroda, Bombay, Hyderabad and Bangalore. Honestly I don't love any of them, nor do I hate any of them. All had their plus and minus points and honestly, there's no place that sucks the most :P.

^ also u do hate chennai too :P let me know chaos experimental :bleh:

in chennai they have change new rules and one way road somewhere the city area :|

Chennai sucks to the core.. OMG the smell is yuck...

and some people attitude is horrifying.... only good thing abt Chennai is food..

best City in South India is Mysore..... climate is same as Bangalore... wide roads, no traffic problems...

Mylapore effin RULEZZZZZZZ

+1 to that!!

Of the 2 cities I have lived in for long, Bangalore sucks the most. Apart from the usual complaint of poor governance, public hygiene that we see in every city, heres some stuff unique to Bangalore.

1) Open storm water drains, even inside the city. Ever heard of a metro with open drains?!
2) Bangalore is yet to invent the usage of garbage bins. Not seen even 1 garbage bin in the entire city.
3) Pathetic public transport. Extremely bad routes and connectivity.
4) Expensive public transport - about 3 times as costly as Chennai/Hyderabad. Poor people like me just cant afford it and have to walk 7-8 kms a day :(
5) Poor road and traffic conditions. Poor adherence, enforcement of retarded traffic rules. Speed breakers here are a big joke.
6) Overpriced and unreliable electricity supply, with power cuts even in winter!!
7) Even with such poor quality of life - the cost of living is really high.
8) Highest crime rates amongst the metro cities in the country. Page 10 of the NCRB report here.

The only saving grace compared to other cities is the weather. But Im afraid that wont last for long.

^^ so why are u still in Bangalore ? when u have so many problems with it...

u forgot the very important negative point about blore
9) Bangalore has provided Job to me.......

The reasons given by the everyone in this thread for what sucks range from being the most lamest, ignorant to an actual dissertation worthy of being provided a good Ph.D:ohyeah:

I have travelled all over the country due to my work [Except East India] and have stayed in different places and different cities. I have never travelled outside the country till now. Several things that I have noticed that are common for hating a particular city are applicable to every other part of the country. Some particular ones are

1. Kolkota is dirty??? well you haven't seen Dharavi in Mumbai or the Slums near Foreshore Estate in Chennai [Before & After Tsunami].

2. Chennai people are arrogant, what about the nice folks in Ernakulam who call you "Add Region here" "Dog" as soon as you turn your backs or those "Oh, I s**t Gold" Punewallahs.

3. Power cuts, lack of water in Mumbai & Delhi, folks please stay in rural Andhra for a week or even better stay in Vijayawada for a day.

4. Traffic in Bangalore, this is rich coming from folks in Delhi and in Mumbai.

The problem is not the cities or towns, it's the people who live in them. We as Indians have automatically assumed the right to live and be filthy, arrogant, rude and narrow minded towards a lot of our fellow citizens and this has almost turned into a meme now so that it is carried forward to the future generations.

And I'm ashamed to say that I'm no different than the rest of them and I have my own share of biases. :ashamed:

I spent 30 mins typing a LONG post for this thread, and later realized, this thread aint achieving anything or change anything. Will follow it silently :|

I think we need to have some criteria for ranking cities then we can have meaningful discussion imo :)

Thx for the chart but on reading the page i cannot see bangalore with the highest crime rate ?

By the looks of it,
1) Indore
2) Bhopal
3) Jaipur
4) Jabalpur
5) Vijayawada
6) Patna
7) Kochi
8) Bangalore
9) Nagpur
10) Vishakapatnam

If you mean highest amongst tier-1 cities then yes, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata are lower.

lol.. Delhi is so far the least discussed and hated city in this thread.
let me add something to its glory

-More than Crowded
-Traffic Jams.
-People ruining monuments for the sake of their good (the good about which most of the good-seekers themselves do not know.)
-Delhi-streets=Public toilets+SpitBoxes. You can find 5-6men peeing each time you'll raise you head to see around.
-Every one thinks that he is the biggest Gunda of the town. The 1/2inch 'pasli' man also thinks that he has a much bigger 'back' than what the other has.
-Private Blue-line buses are seriously 'khatarnak' racing queens here. Our own DTC hasnt left behind in the same course. DTC people have handed over racing machines in the face of Low-Floor green boxes.
-Most of the eyes here are big X-ray machines. they can tell much more than a female knows herself about her.
-Roads. They spend 1000days to make a road. and after 15-20days of its operation. they again come and dig it out in 1 day.
-Climate. You never know that what's going to the climate in our town tomorow.
-'Tharki' police cops.. The traffic authorities have given Pulsar 180cc's to their white uniformed 'thullas' to 'catch-and-challan' the violaters. And what they do is, when they spot a defaulter, they follow the person as long as they can, making the chase duration longest it could be and at a sudden they stop him saying 'ki bhai bahut bhagaa laaya tu, ib te lamba chaalaaan laagega'.
-Shopkeepers here will quote you a price which might be 5x or 6x of the Original 'x'. Bargain skills are a 'must' to shop here in delhi.
much more..

The Good.
-Palika, NP, Karol Bagh, Sarojini Nagar, Khan Mkt, Lajpat Nagar, Daryanganj, KB, Gaffar, Moolchand-Minto Bridge (most of u might know for what the combo is famous for).
-Best Patri-bazaars i the country.
-Best foodie joints.
-Metro
-Akshardham and oter sights to visit.
-Malls and other retro cinema halls.
-Alcohol is easily available. sometimes you can find more than 2liquor shops in a same locality.
-Chicks :p
-Bhaaichaara.
-Long list of venues for hanging out.
lol..

my Co-Delhites can add much more to the delight of our delhi.

*Expect typos. typing from the phone.

Someone forgot to mention KOLKATA ??? :P
@shripad, I agree on MUNNAR. Perfect place to stay. I have couple more places to name but I won't. Because still very few people know about the place and I won't increase the numbers. :P

Wow ! Human nature sucks big time ! ;)
